March Favourites
Another month bites the dust and just like that it's time for favourites to be reflected upon again. March has been a real ride but rather than dwell on that side of things, some good from this month: I walked 8.4 kms with a group of ladies+gents from my office at work for Round the Bays. It was a good time and I managed to complete it without complaints. Although the blisters the next day, you were not welcome. I read a lot. I wrote a lot-am still writing a lot, for myself and other places. Oh-and I got my blogging juice back. In truth this month I've struggled with the ol' blog so it was a relief to myself when I sat down and devised a posting schedule for April, without staring at blank paper for hours. Anyway, March Favourites and there's a real variety. Beverages, books, beauty, podcasts...the whole enchilada. *Props if you get that reference*
-Bronze Eyeshadow: Bronze glittery eyeshadow is my makeup MVP. I've literally been gravitating towards this tone of eyeshadow alone all month. Probably spurred on by this makeup look. It could also be the slight Autumnal crispness to the air that is drawing me to these colours as well. There's no specific eyeshadow I've been reaching for over another but stand-outs have been this, this in the shade Twig and this palette.
-Rushower Dry Shampoo x Soap and Glory: This is good, inexpensive stuff. Hey-if it makes my hair smell good and kinda disguises the hair washing laziness, I am not going to complain. This mini can is cheaper than a takeaway coffee, where I frequent at least, and the larger can is only $7 so it's not going to set you back a lot. A++ would recommend.
-Oh Comely magazine: I have a lotta love for this independent British title. It's packed full with brilliant stories, imagery, women, books and just a whole bunch of goodness basically. Like my beloved frankie, it's released bimonthly and also like frankie, it's a magazine best savoured over several readings. As I'm a bit behind on magazine reading I had two issues of this to read this month and loved them both. Roll on April because another issue is released then.
-The Fringe Of It Podcast: Sorry not sorry for mentioning this podcast again. Liv+Charlotte in a podcast=a whole lot of brilliant banter and ideas. Each episode they talk about what they've been watching and buying and then they move into a themed discussion. The two most recent episodes have looked at getting out of a funk and style. The podcast is on a lil' break at the moment while Liv is in New Zealand(!!) but there's plenty to listen to while you wait if you need a catch up.
-Lovisa Earrings: I like my celestial jewels, that's not new information for anyone. I've been wearing these ones a bunch recently, until I can fork out for something a bit fancier. Despite their appearance, they're surprisingly lightweight and I love 'em. If only for the fact it makes me feel like I'm channeling Stevie Nicks a bit whenever I wear them.
-The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath: This hefty tome has been carted everywhere with me. I'm still not finished and because I like to dip in and out of it, reading it will probably take a while. Sylvia's writing is so captivating and profound in many ways. She does like the odd grotesque metaphor which did take me a bit of getting used to. I wish I could quote something memorable from it but the one line staying with me right now is her aside about an ex's new girlfriend, in which she called them a "brilliant whore". In seriousness, I do have many passages underlined and will collate my thoughts about this book into something more cohesive when I do eventually finish it.
-Rekorderlig Elderflower & Lime Cider: First off, not sure how many youths are reading this blog *waves*, please drink responsibly. Everyone else, you need to try this cider. I had a glass post Round the Bays at The Glass Goose and it is divine. Not too sweet, not too bitter and mighty refreshing. Bold claim but this might be my favourite Rekorderlig flavour. In fact you can bet I'll be celebrating the end of the short working week with one of these tomorrow.

March Favourites
March, you mad, sometimes marvellous, other times melodramatic thing. I'm sorry, I don't mean to start this post on a negative note. I will not be elaborating beyond that other than to say, just remember social media is curated. Like your own personal gallery of sorts. Anyway, what March was good for was beauty and non-beauty things, of which there were plenty. I'm just realising now that I left some beauty things out. I'll do a little Instagram post about them in the next few days because I feel guilty for forgetting to include everything. There's a lipstick that has finally won me over, the eyeshadow I'd wear daily and a bunch of other brilliant things. Read on...
Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Cake-So when I first received this lipstick I liked it but I didn't love it. During March I've been on the go a fair bit and this has been in my makeup bag the entire time. I can apply it easily, no fuss, no mirrors and I know it's going to at least add a little something to my lips. Cake is a peachy pink that is more on the sheer side of things, it really gives the lips more of a stained, Popsicle effect as Glossier put it. I like that though and it's been perfect this month when I've not really been fussed with makeup. It's happened more often than you'd think actually. Anyway, I rate it and would recommend grabbing one if you're doing a Glossier order.
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma-You're probably all tired of hearing about this now so I will keep this brief. Glittery, rose gold goodness in a tube is all you need to know. It is insanely long lasting and looks so striking on the lids.
Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood-This was my first immersion into Atwood's writing and it did not disappoint. The plot itself is a loose retelling of The Tempest by William Shakespeare but the actual play is embedded into the storyline. It's a play within a play basically. The way everything was described so vividly really appealed to me. That and the richness of her writing. It is brilliant. I gave it five stars over on Goodreads which I don't do very often so that should tell you how much I loved it.
Aesop Resurrection Rinse Free Hand Wash-You may think, pfft, a hand sanitiser, how boring. I love this one though and it's the only alcohol based hand wash that doesn't seem to dry my hands out like crazy. It also helps that it smells less chemical than others and is still not going to put a terrible dent in your wallet. Side note: It's great for removing makeup swatches and cream eyeshadow from your fingertips.
Teen Vogue, Volume One-Teen Vogue has been making the news in a big way recently, particularly for their political coverage. They've also given their digital and print content a shakeup in a major way and I am loving it. You're never too old for Teen Vogue tbh. Anyway, I have to give a mention to their revamped, quarterly issue. The first was centred around the theme of love and was laden with plenty of positivity and inspiring women+guys, shout out to Troye Sivan and of course TV's digital director, Phillip Picardi. I also loved this cover story with Bella Hadid and the accompanying photos. The Sofia Coppola vibes were strong. I am yet to see this issue on the NZ shelves-I have a subscription. If I spot it, I will let you all know.
Adele-Nine years after first hearing Chasing Pavements and then watching the world catch on in 2011, Adele finally arrived in Auckland last week. Nine years is a long time to wait, Adele. She was so, so worth it though! I laughed, I cried and marveled at her pure amazingness. I still don't quite have words for the experience that was seeing her live really. It was utter magic.
Beauty and the Beast*-The live action remake has just opened in NZ and I am stoked because I have been dying to see it again. Beauty and the Beast was always my favourite of the Disney 'Princess' films although I feel like this one fits that criteria less than some of the others. Anyway, I had high expectations and it surpassed them. Beautiful, vibrant, faithful and then we have the casting. Luke Evans, Emma Watson, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Audra McDonald, Ewan McGregor. The list goes on. Josh Gad as Le Fou is particularly brilliant but the whole cast shone. It is also an absolute visual feast too and while I did wonder if the special effects would make it look too animated, it really didn't. The music of course is mostly unchanged too although there are some new songs which I loved. There's not much else to say here really. Go watch it and maybe take a tissue if Disney movies destroy your emotions. I did cry as soon as Belle and the Beast appeared on the staircase and the opening refrains of Beauty and the Beast started.
-What have you loved during March?
*I was provided tickets to the NZ Premiere of this film but honestly, all raves are my own. I would see this anyway and will be going again and paying with my own $$.

March Favourites
It's early in the monthly favourites scheme of things but whether out of organisation or assertiveness, I actually knew exactly what I'd been loving this month quite early on and didn't have to debate with myself too much. There's a mix of beauty and non-beauty in here+some stuff that didn't make it to the photos, for obvious reasons. Anyway, here is my favourites for March...
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Sweet Tooth*-I love this lipglass from MAC. It's non-sticky, and pairs nicely with nude lipsticks. It's such a flattering colour and I love how you can wear it on its own and it still has a hint of pigment to it so it doesn't just look like clear lipgloss, cue nineties flashbacks. If the Flamingo Park collection is still on counters where you live you should go check this lipglass out.
Tartelette in Bloom Palette-My other eyeshadows haven't been getting much attention lately thanks to this palette, but I'm okay with that. It's the perfect combination of colours and while there aren't as many shimmer shades included as I would like, I am okay with the three that are in there. My favourite shade is Firecracker, the shimmery bronze but they're all pretty fabulous.
Lush Frozen Bath Bomb, not pictured-This bath bomb was a bit expensive hence I only bought one and don't have another to show you. This is what it looks like in the water though. The name might be inspired by a certain Disney film but don't let that put you off. This blue, glimmery ball of goodness looks absolutely beautiful+baths with bath bombs are so relaxing.
Kikki K Minimalist Weekly Planner Pad, similar here-If you love organisation but don't love having tonnes of pieces of paper everywhere you should get one of these pads. I actually use mine to plan out my University timetable each day. I also use it to fill in when I'm working and other random tasks/meetings I have. I like this one because it also features a to-do list section and a next week column, which is where I stick all the deadlines I have coming up the following week. It's such a handy thing to have.
Full House-Thanks to Netflix and Fuller House I've been getting real nostalgic this month. I watched the series revival in a week, possibly less and then tracked down Season 1 on DVD. It's as good as my childhood self remembers it being. Also, every single season is now on Netflix which makes me far too happy. If you've never seen Full House and want a funny+lighthearted watch you should check this out.
Estee Lauder Brow Now Volumizing Brow Tint*-This is the first brow gel/mascara that I've tried that actually matches my brow colour. I have dark brows but the darkest shade often makes them look jet black, not ideal. I have this in the shade brunette and it perfectly matches my eyebrows. It's the perfect thing to set your pencil products in place, or you can use it on its own if you're in a hurry. My brows are defined so I don't use it for volumizing as such, but it helps to make things look a whole lot more polished or 'on fleek' as the cool kids say.
Diptyque Philosykos, a gift-I had a mass beauty cull recently and came so close to parting with this fragrance. I'm glad I didn't though because I forgot how much I loved it. It's musky, figgy and is the perfect scent for Autumn and Winter. I'm terrible at describing fragrances but it's one of those scents that is just comforting and a bit different. I love it for this time of year.
The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett, not pictured-There's a few books that could have made their way in here this month but I went for this one because it surprised me. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this much as I did but I loved it and tore through it. I think it helped that the chapters weren't overly long but also it's such a unique storyline and setup. The three different plotlines all blend together beautifully and they all bring something different to the book. I'd recommend this if you're after a contemporary novel with a lot of elements to it.

March Favourites
March, where have you gone!? This month I've been really getting on board with all things pink. You'll notice that trend carrying on into next month's posts as well. It's a bold claim, but many of these products have earned staple status in the beauty lineup this month, and I can imagine myself repurchasing many of these products. There's even some non-beauty favourites for a change too, just to mix things up a bit. So without further ado, here are March's favourites..
Benefit Gimme Brow*-We've seen the hype surrounding this product and I'm here to sell you that Gimme Brow deserves all the love that it gets. A brow gel/brow mascara hybrid, this product leaves you with fuller, defined brows. The tint is incredibly subtle which I love and it stays put until you're ready to take your makeup off. Impressive stuff.
Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Afternoon Tea-If you're a fan of glosses without shimmer then you're bound to love Afternoon Tea. This creamy pink is pigmented, long-wearing and has only the slightest amount of stickiness. Once the gloss wears off the colour leaves a stain behind. These lipglosses also smell amazing too. You can't really go wrong with these.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure-This blush combines everything we love from the Ambient Lighting powders with stunning blush pigments. Mood Exposure has been on high rotation this month. I've had to start reminding myself I have other blushes(!). This shade adds warmth to the face, a touch of highlight and subtle sculpting. It's a stunner.
Mac Eyeshadows-I'm sure this inclusion will come as such a surprise (ahem..) but in the last few weeks since creating my Mac palette I've just found myself using these colours a lot more. Sable is my go-to shade for lazy makeup days but I've also been loving Trax which in my eyes is more of an Autumnal colour. Mac eyeshadows are definitely some of my favourites. The colours are pigmented, easy to blend and have less fallout than some other brands.

March Favourites
March has almost vanished from us in the blink of an eye it seems. It amazes me that I am now a third of the way through another semester at University, seriously it goes so quickly. This month I've been mixing up my makeup bag, trying out samples and playing with some products I've received over the last few months. Many of these I want to repurchase once they've run out because I think they're brilliant.
