What I Love Weekly #43

1. She was a day tripper. My cousin & I caught a very early train to Wellington, Starbucks saved us in case you were wondering. It was such a fantastic day & we had such a good time wandering the city, taking plenty of pictures, eating glorious food & shopping.

2. The Academy Awards! It was so exciting to see Adele & Anne Hathaway win Oscars in particular but more so to see some of the stunning gowns the starlets chose to wear. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you will have seen that my favourite was Amanda Seyfried's Alexander McQueen dress. I also loved Naomi Watts in Armani Prive as well.

3. Passion for Paper in Parnell is basically paper heaven! They have the most gorgeous selection of cards I've seen in one place ever & beautiful paper. If you haven't been before it is well worth a visit.

4. Karen Walker's latest range of eyewear is out now & it is rather amazing! I tried on some of the frames this week & subsequently fell in love with one pair in particular. Penny saving begins now.

Aren't these amazing??

February Favourites

During February my daily makeup routine didn't change an entire lot as I was mainly trialling these products & saving for my holiday. Come March I may have some new things to try as some of my go-to products are running low, there are a bunch of new collections landing in store & I have a pile of products to make my way through so keep an eye out for them. In saying that I have been loving each & every one of these products this month & would happily repurchase them too.

Here's the beauty products I have loved during February

February in Pictures

February has been fabulous & fast-this time next week I'll back studying after a refreshing & reflective Summer holiday. The highlight of this month has definitely been my holiday that I went on last week, in particular our day trip to Wellington.

This month has really gone by quickly & I can barely remember what happened.Thankfully, my cameras (and diary) documented it for me & here's some of what they captured this month.

Some of the beauty products I tried this month.
Behind the scenes on this post.

What I Love Weekly #42-The Fairy Dust Edition

So as I'm currently on holiday I thought I'd put together a list inspired by Gala Darling's Carousel posts in which she shares links she's been loving with her readers.

Here's some lovely links I've gathered lately. So sit back, pour yourselves a drink in a china teacup & get reading!

1. Tanya vlogged how to make a Nutella Cake & it looks divine! Serve with strawberries & cups of tea.

2. I'm loving the endless amount of interior design inspiration the Internet & magazines provide. Maria of Avenue M made a video of her newly updated room & shared her decorating ideas. Watch it here.

3. The team behind The Coveteur went & photographed the gorgeousness that is Barbie's closet. Be prepared for lots of pink, sky high heels & sequins.

Quotacious Quotes

"Were it given to our human eye to see into the consciences of others, we would judge a man much more surely from what he dreams than from what he thinks. There is will in thought, there is none in dreams….Each of us dreams the unknown and the impossible according to his own nature." -Victor Hugo, Les Miserables.

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag

I really enjoyed doing my last "what's in my bag" post in January & I always love watching beauty vlogger's "what's in my makeup bag" videos on YouTube, in a non stalkerish way of course. I am staying with some of my extended family for a week & this is what I've packed in the way of makeup. Note this is more or less what I'm using on a daily basis this month as well but obviously I couldn't take everything with me, eyeshadow palettes & giant perfume bottles for example.

Chanel La Ligne De Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo #10 Noir Lamé.
Nars Eyeshadow in Night Star to line the inner corners of my eyes.
Jo Malone Basil, Lime & Mandarin Cologne mini size that was part of their 2012 Christmas Crackers.
MAC Eyeshadow Duo in Satin Taupe. I'm not too sure what the matte brown colour is but I'm using it to fill in my brows at the moment.
MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in A Natural Flirt.
Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine.

What I Love Weekly #41

1. New York Fashion Week goodness! Highlights include; Karen Walker, Alice + Olivia & Marc by Marc Jacobs. Also loved some of the makeup looks that MAC created for their shows in particular. I've made my imaginary wishlist already.

2. While we're on the subject of fashion I have to mention my Valentines Day present to myself, my Chanel nails! My inspiration board is on my Facebook page but more or less I was inspired by the feathers they use in their Couture (in particular SS13), stars in their Jewellery & Ready to Wear looks & their iconic perfume bottles. They are quite simply amazing. Still curious? See them yourselves here.

3. Homemade berry & banana smoothies are the best. Forget Starbucks, for now..

4. The greatness that is Les Miserables the film. I finally saw this on Monday & loved it. What an incredible musical & story. The film is also cast perfectly & it'll be very surprising if Anne Hathaway doesn't win an Oscar for her role. Definitely see it if you haven't already & be prepared to have the soundtrack playing not long after, oh & take tissues!

The Reading Pile

A few of my favourite things about Summer holidays are; 1. The (generally) amazing weather, 2. Sleep ins!, 3. Travel & 4. Getting to read a lot! My Summer break is rather long so usually I get to read a lot more books than during the year, which is nothing to complain about!

Here's a selection of books & magazines I've enjoyed lately

The New Rose-Karen Walker Fall 2013

The New Rose-Karen Walker Fall 2013

Karen Walker showcased her latest collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday & already it is receiving high praise online. Maya Singer for Style.com notes that Walker had seriously de-fussed her looks, emphasizing clean silhouettes and solid colors, and though it was easy to imagine the typical young Walker fan wearing the collection's simple wrap vests or belted tunic dresses, you could also see a fashionably pared-down woman of any age falling for the allure in those looks.

There are some stunning individual pieces in this collection like the floor length coats & full outfits as well. The English Rose vibes combined with Punk inspired pieces made this one of my favourite showcases since Sea Monsters. The new eyewear from the Forever collection accompanied these looks & it is also fantastic. The sunglasses seem inspired by Miu Miu & Iris Apfel, one of New York's iconic ladies of fashion.

Anyway, without further ado here are my favourite looks from the New Rose showcase;

This is my absolute favourite look! I love the prints in particular featured here.

February Wishlist

It feels like I haven't been shopping properly in ages! So I decided to look at some of my favourite online websites for some inspiration & potentially wallet damaging ideas. Have a look at my picks for February & comment below if you love any of these as much as I do.

This Chanel print is one of many stunning options in this gorgeous Etsy shop. It'd look amazing in a white frame I think! A new bag is on my wishlist as my faithful one is looking noticeably dated, Forever New also have some stunning options in store at the moment. That NARS duo is so so so beautiful, champagne & dusty rose eyeshadows are my favourites.

My Summer Favourites

I've been wanting to do this post for a while because I love watching & reading about other people's seasonal favourites, so I thought you may want to hear mine. This Summer has been pretty fantastic in truth. I've definitely enjoyed going on holidays the most, trips to the beach & reading books! I've also enjoyed exploring the secondhand stores so I can pick up more things for redecorating my bedroom. I've been inspired by blogs & some of the things on this board.

What I Love Weekly #40

1. "Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you even when you don't see it yourself."

2. Fairy lights, in particular these Camellia ones. This might've been mentioned in a list a few weeks ago actually. Regardless, I am loving fairy lights & want some so badly!!

3. Tanya Burr posted an Arab-inspired makeup tutorial over on her channel this week. This is such a gorgeous look & I'll definitely try it out some time. Watch it here.

4. Bluebells Cakery is definitely one of the cutest places in Auckland. C & I went there on the weekend & enjoyed a selection of mini cupcakes & milkshakes (in jam jars!!). They were delicious as always.

So pretty! Delicious too.

Get The Look: Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries

Get The Look: Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries

I think the world of fashion television would definitely crown Carrie Bradshaw their fashion queen, both during Sex & The City & of course more recently, The Carrie Diaries. The styling on The Carrie Diaries is the genius of Eric Daman, who was responsible for all those fabulous outfit creations we saw on Gossip Girl. Normally eighties fashion on television or in film seems to be done in a way that makes it obviously appear dated & at times daggy. On The Carrie Diaries however the styling so far appears fashion forward with a touch of modern elegance whilst still paying homage to the decade.

AnnaSophia Robb herself has said in interviews that a lot of the clothing featured throughout the show has come from stores like H&M & TopShop. Seeing as her character does have a rather amazing wardrobe on the show I thought it'd be fun to try recreating Carrie inspired outfits myself.  All of these clothes are from TopShop so you can recreate these looks yourself!

Snapshots of Carrie's fashion so far.

What I Love Weekly #39

1. Martha's Pantry in Wellington is quite possibly the cutest little high tea location, ever! The tables all have vintage tablecloths & flowers on them, there's pretty china aplenty, cute sweet treats & even Degas prints on the wall. If you're in Wellington you definitely should pay them a visit, if you haven't already.

2. This exhibition. Ben Cauchi takes incredible photographs, they almost resemble paintings in reality. I loved seeing his work & learning a bit more about it, especially since he was my artist model for a research paper I did in my final year of school.

3. The fact that I don't have to buy any new beauty products for a while! I still (believe it or not) have makeup that I was given at Christmas that hasn't been tried & in the last weeks I've received three more things! Here's to saving $ & avoiding the temptation of new collections.

4. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is an incredible book. I was going to review this on the blog but it's one of those books you really have to read for yourself in order to appreciate it. This line; 'We accept the love we think we deserve' is one I've been pondering a bit lately. Of course I've also been listening to all The Beatles songs included on the mixtapes a lot more lately as well.

The perfect way to relax after a day in the office!
