The Week #116

Print frenzy-Lately I've been really getting back into fashion blogs, I think for me it's a nice refresher when the majority of my blog reading comes from the beauty domain. I loved this post over on Jane's blog Sea of Shoes, a blog I've been reading for yonks. She always takes pictures in the most gorgeous settings and her style is so...lustworthy. It's getting me all excited for Summer and fun prints.

Skincare Regrets-There's a lotta information out there about skincare now, particularly on some of our favourite blogs. I see loads of people talking about how oil on oily skin is okay. Whenever I try this it only seems to worsen my skin. Jenny shared this great post on some skincare rules that are thrown about that either didn't work for her or in contrast worked amazingly. I found myself nodding away at what didn't work; oils, cleansing balms and the like. Moral of the story? Always try to get samples where you can before you invest in something expensive that may just make your skin worse.

That time I got far too excited about limited edition chocolate-Look at that satisfied face. That is the face of someone who had pursued various supermarkets over the course of twelve hours in hunt of Hundreds and Thousands chocolate. Don't judge me, I was not the only one. Britney was also part of this quest. I even picked up some for one of my overseas blogging friends to try. It seems to be a love-hate thing but I love this chocolate.

Stella's had a makeover-It's no secret that I love Stella McCartney's perfumes, but sadly I do not own any of them myself. That does not stop me spritzing them in stores whenever I spy the tester bottles floating around. Well, Stella's signature scent has had a revamp and I love it! Not that the original bottle wasn't stunning, but I just love this new design. I'm adding this one to the wishlist as we speak..

Makeup goodness aplenty-Zoe or Zoella as she is also known uploaded her highly anticipated makeup collection this week. I'm sure you'd probably think it would be an hour long affair, but her collection actually seems quite tame compared to some of the hardcore beauty addicts. She split the collection up into multiple videos too so if lipgloss isn't your thing you can skip that one out. It was all really well done and beautifully filmed, standard with Zoe's videos.

*Have an amazing weekend guys! I'm quite excited (not gonna lie) because it's my birthday on Sunday and while I don't really have any concrete plans for the actual day I'm still looking forward to it. The Makeup Obsessives Auckland meetup is happening though so I will probably head to that for a little bit. Other than that my weekend is probably just the usual combo of Uni work (I have readings to catch up on and assignments to start, ugh), sleeping and blogging. Thank goodness it's nearly Friday though, this week was a little bit of a killer. x

July Roundup

July seems to have been one of those kind of blink and you'll miss it months. Maybe that just comes with the territory of being a busy, functional adult person but it seems like July went ridiculously fast and that semester break was an eternity ago. Here's a little roundup of some of the posts you've been loving on Nana Wintour during July. As always, feel free to like my Facebook page to stay in the loop on new posts and also you can follow me on Bloglovin if you'd prefer..

Beauty Bloggers Made Me Do It-Ahh beauty bloggers, the skilled enablers. Don't knock 'em, because if you're like me then they may be responsible for many of your current stash staples. Ahem, Anna. Here's a 'lil roundup of some beauty blogger enabled buys that I've picked up and subsequently fallen in love with.

The New Eyeliner For The Cat Flick Novice-Eyeliner of the non-pencil variety is not my forte but Benefit's new gamechanger is making that less of an issue for us now. This push-up liner does take some getting used to but it's worth persevering with. Their new eye makeup remover is pretty fabulous as well. It even made its way into my July Favourites.

Blogger Love Tag-I do love me a good tag, and this one got me intrigued. As the title would suggest, there's a lot of sharing the love for some of my fellow bloggers. If you're looking for my favourites, this is where you should head.

Beauty Memories-Or the one where I share my beauty firsts and even some faux pas. There's even the cringeworthy purchase of Mac's Creme D'Nude detailed there for you. It was like concealer for my lips basically. Cringe!

-I hope you're all having a lovely week! This week's been quite quiet really. Well, quiet as things can be when you're back at University and juggling life+commitments in between. I'm back at my internship today as Wednesday's one of my class-free days. Cue early mornings and a rather long commute-I really need to get my restricted license! x

July Favourites

July has almost been and gone, bringing with it a rather mixed selection of favourites. Makeup wasn't high on the agenda this month, given I spent some of it in bed and when I did reach for it I just headed for the products I knew and loved. As well as makeup I've also been loving a musical, a rather inspiring book and even some chocolate..

Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette-Last month was all about the Dipbrow, which is great, but if you're in a rush to get somewhere it can slow things down. I've had this pencil for over a year now and it's still going strong. It's so easy to achieve perfect, precise brows without an awful lot of effort.

Laura Mercier 'Radiance' Primer-My Hourglass primer is still numero uno, but to try and make it go the extra mile I've been testing a few other primers recently. This was one I picked up in Summer from Melbourne and it was slightly too glowy for my skin then. Now, however it is perfect. My foundation veers more on the matte side of things so this helps to inject a bit of glow back into my complexion. It's also great at keeping your makeup in place too.

Whittakers 'Hundreds and Thousands' Chocolate-Now it's probably a bit crazy including this in my July Favourites, given it only came out a week ago but it is so good! People seem to be divided on this one, some claim it just tastes like white chocolate but I love it. If you're familiar with the hundreds and thousands biscuits, this tastes just like the pink icing on them. I'll definitely be picking up some more of this soon.

Benefit 'They're Real' Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover*-If you saw my review of this earlier in July, you'll know that I was expecting it to be quite gimmicky. It's the total opposite. If you like to wear a lot of eye makeup, and particularly sturdy mascaras then you'll love this. The creamy product works in a similar way to a cleansing balm and gently breaks down your eye makeup. It won't irritate your eyes and makes sure every trace of product is gone.

#Girlboss-I've already harped on about this book enough this month, more here. In short, if you're after inspiration or just wanting to kick-ass then you need to pick this one up. It's such an inspiring, motivating read.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer-Again, when I've not wanted to mess around with multiple concealers, this one's been doing the job. If I had to get picky, I'd say the lightest shade is perhaps slightly too light for me but other than that I like this concealer. It's thick, blends easily and conceals a multitude of sins.

Les Miserables-Now I'll be honest, I've been quite obsessed with this musical since I saw the movie last year and over the last holidays I often had the soundtrack going whilst I was doing my jobs around the house. Empty house+loud, dramatic music=Happy Sophie. I don't know what it is about this musical, given the various plot points are all quite depressing but I love it. I'm kinda tempted to head on over to Melbourne to see it right now too...

Sebastian Pro Drynamic*-If you're like me and find hair washing a bit of a faff (sorry Mum...) then you need to get yourselves a can of this. Part dry shampoo, part style extender. I don't notice much of a difference in the way of styling, but as a dry shampoo this is awesome. It helps disguise second or third day hair and leaves things looking a lot more glossy. I need to get the mini size of this for my handbag.

-What have you been loving during July?

The Week #115

Beauty Packages Tied Up With String-A few weeks back a friend and I made a joint Sephora order using YouShop and it finally arrived a few days earlier! Here's a snippet of what I chose this time 'round. I've not had a chance to try anything yet but keep your eyes peeled for a review of that rather aesthetically pleasing palette soon...

The Fantastic Three-La Roche Posay's Effaclar products have taken the beauty world by storm. I swear by their Effaclar Duo which does wonders for oily and blemish prone skin. This September, La Roche Posay are releasing a new three-step system containing a cleanser, the effaclar treatment and a new clarifying toner. I love Clarifying Toners so I'd buy the set just for that. From what I can gather it's going to be a Boots exclusive at first (lucky UK readers), but I'll let you know if I spy it on Escentual too.

A Not-Quite Nude Lip Love-I have three neutral lipsticks, all from Mac which I guess some people would describe as nudes. I always associate the idea of nude lipsticks with more brown-based hues which I cannot pull off. Anyway, this week I've been loving Peach  Blossom, one of Mac's Cremesheen lipsticks. Think your lips, but peachier. I love cremesheen lipsticks for everyday wear, they sit nicely on the lips and don't feel drying in the slightest.

Wildwood-So this book is written for a younger audience but adults would find this one appealing too. I'm only about a quarter of a way through this book, the first in a trilogy but I love it. If you were a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia or even A Series of Unfortunate Events then you'll probably like this. I'm reluctant to give much away, as this is unlike anything else I've read before but if you're passing through a bookstore keep an eye out for this. It also contains gorgeous illustrations and colour plates.

Back To The Start-My attempts to get into Parenthood have failed so far. Maybe it's just one of those shows that start slow, I'll keep persevering. For the time being though I have returned to Gilmore Girls. Given I've only seen the whole series once the whole way through I feel like this is justifiable. Reality: I love this show too much and am not ready to move on just yet.

-I hope everyone's had a great week! It's only the start of semester but already I feel so tired. I've been getting back from Uni most nights this week, getting my pyjamas on and heading straight for bed. I've been busy with classes (standard) but I also started interning a couple of days a week for the next month. There were a few dinners this week too so yeah, busy times! This weekend I'll probably just be catching up on some readings I've neglected during the week and putting together Monday's post for you all, and sleeping. My life is so wild haha. Have a good one x.

A Sentence A Day

If you've been around these parts before you'll know I'm not really one for diary writing. More often than not I just tire of writing one every day, and then on days when I'm feeling low, writing about my life is the last thing I want to do. The idea of A Sentence A Day appealed to me. Each day, you are given a prompt or question and have to answer that in a sentence or less. Sometimes I cheat, but it's a great way to get you thinking without feeling tedious or time consuming. You can pick this journal up here from Kikki K. So I've been filling in this journal for over a year now and today I thought I'd share some of my musings with you. I randomly selected dates from each month and just thought it'd be fun to see what I was thinking. Here's some of my thoughts..

18.01.14 Who do you look up to? Amy Astley, Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington. *Side note: All currently at either Vogue or Teen Vogue. Make of that what you will..

09.02.14 What would your perfect day look like? Laduree Macarons, Sephora spree and dinner with fabulous people.

23.03.14 When was the last time you said "I love you" and to whom? I genuinely can't remember. Is that bad?

22.04.14 What is your favourite topic of conversation? Myself haha nah I'm kidding. Probably beauty, or books, or pop culture stuff. *"Stuff" I am so technical...

22.05.14 Right now, I feel... Exhausted and emotionally drained.

26.06.14 Write down the ingredients for happiness... A dash of optimism, five cups of calm and a zest of life's lemons.

04.07.14 Describe your perfect night in... Chicken fettucinne, movies and reading in bed listening to The Beatles.

21.08.13 Real life or make believe? At the moment: make believe.

14.09.13 What is your favourite dessert? This is hard! I do love mint chocolate chip icecream though.

06.10.13 Cats or dogs? Cats all the way! Totes a sassy legit cat lady. *That is what I really wrote....

27.11.13 What is your favourite band? The Beatles. Always.

08.12.13 What gives you goosebumps? Insects crawling on you, which is a terrible feeling.

Beauty Memories

I took a little trip down memory lane recently when I stumbled upon some reasonably old photos. They were from '08, the days when all of us seemed to use the built in editing tools to overexpose and oversaturate the heck out of our pictures. While it's difficult to make out exactly what makeup I was wearing, I was crazy about the black 'liner, this to be exact. Anyway, it got me thinking about the makeup I used to wear from the 'firsts' to the faux pas...

Fragrance Firsts-So my first perfume was a freebie bottle of Glow by JLo which at the time I thought was the bee's knees. Then I moved onto Coco Mademoiselle, which was a favourite of an old friend of mine. Faux pas? Absolutely not! I loved, and still do love this fragrance. It's a difficult one to describe but once you spritz this you're bound to recognise it. This one's forever on my wishlist to pick up again.

Glittery Eyes-Eyeshadows with sponge applicators, silver or white were my colour preferences of choice. That makes me cringe just thinking of that now. I also used to wear Mac Reflects Pearl Glitter to school. Subtle right? While my love for glittery eyeshadow hasn't changed it's certainly toned down a tad. My Mac palette above should be a case in point.

Bad Lipstick Decisions-I can't remember where exactly I first discovered Mac Cosmetics but their Barbie campaign is what started my interest. The first lipstick I ever purchased from them was Creme D'Nude. Yep. That one. I'm not sure why it's marketed at paler people, maybe it just didn't suit me, but it was awful. Think 'your lips, but worse, and concealed'. Bad call #1. #2 was the first Viva Glam Gaga lipstick. I was obsessed with Lady Gaga at the time and probably didn't think too much of the colour. Again, it just looked awful on me. Something about those Saint Germain-esque shades just never looks right on me.

The One Where We All Wanted High End Gloss-Who recalls the obsession with Lancome Juicy Tubes? Those delicious, ridiculously expensive lipglosses that we all seemed to want. I remember having two, the raspberry and marshmallow scented ones. It's been so long since I used these that I can't remember an awful lot about them. Aside from their delicious scent they didn't have an awful lot going for them and I remember them being ridiculously sticky. Yet we all still wore them..

-What's one of your early beauty memories?

*Have a super Monday everyone!! I'm back to Uni today *sad face*. Well, it's not all sad, in fact some of it's potentially going to be quite exciting. I'm just sad to be losing sleep ins but y'know, there's always the weekend for that! x

What's In My Handbag #2

Not my finest selfie but this was the start of flu virus from hell so this is as good as it was gonna get..

Well I'm back, with another video for you all! This time I decided to give you a look inside my rather bulky handbag. It really is like the modern-day Mary Poppins bag, given what I was finding in there. Now advanced apologies for the somewhat stranger sounding voice as I had a sore throat+cough when I filmed this video. I also apologise for the overuse of "um" and "essential" but anyway..here's what's in my well loved handbag. Enjoy!

The Week #114

Bejewelled Eyeshadow Crayons-I love shimmery, neutral-toned eyeshadows year round but they really seem to come out to play a whole lot more at this time of year. Rimmel's Bad Girl Bronze and By Terry's Misty Rock have both been on high rotation this week. A quick swipe and blending job with these will leave you with gorgeous, bejewelled lids. Lurve.

Beauty Lover's Heaven-One day a plunge will be taken on the Muji Website, with a little help from a mail forwarding service. Until that happens, I will stare at my screen admiring the Ikea and Muji setups of some of my favourite bloggers. Kate has recently moved flats and shared her updated makeup storage. I love the look of this Ikea desk but my room just isn't big enough for it. *sad face* Anyway, go have a read, and a swoon. Stare longingly at that new Marc Jacobs perfume bottle too. When is that out here? Maybe I shouldn't be told about that....

YouTuber Whispers-You know those days when you just need some hilarious YouTube viewing? Miranda Sings is usually my go-to but I'd seen gifs of Joe's YouTuber Whispers series floating around on Tumblr and went off in search of them. It's basically like Chinese Whispers, with statements about YouTubers and players have insanely loud music going through their headphones, so lip reading is the only option. It's harder than it sounds and had me laughing so hard I started crying. Check them out here

An Investment Piece-What is it about rose gold that's just so alluring? Is it the in-between hue for those who aren't gold or silver people. Whatever it is, it never fails to attract my attention. Britney recently got these headphones for her birthday and they are so pretty. Attractiveness aside, apparently the sound quality is awesome too. I'm tempted, and not just because I've been using those awful Apple headphones for longer than I should have..

The One Where I Don't Go Makeup Shopping-Yep, you read right. Occasionally I go through decor inspired phases, often around Christmas and I'm never not lusting after Bath and Body Works candles. There's also that magazine I love, a stunning fuschia pink lip product and some other odds and ends.

A New Look-My redesign has probably been mentioned to everybody I know this week #sorrynotsorry. I just love it so much and am so happy with how it came out. I designed this new logo+banner for my Facebook page and eventual business cards too. I love me a good makeover clearly.

Feelin' Spendy

Title credits go to the one and only Amelia, shopping extraordinaire. Recently I've been doing a bit of non-beauty shopping so I thought I'd round it all up into one neat little post for you today. There's art, that magazine I never stop raving about and one lone lip product...

Bath and Body Works 'Pink Lemonade Pound Cake' Mason Jar Candle, purchased from eBay-Pink lemonade is one of my all-time favourite drinks so it seems almost inevitable really that I'd like this candle. It smells amazing! The scent is like a mix of lemon sponge cake with a hint of sweetness, perhaps even grapefruit-esque notes too. The scents linger for hours after as well. I've still been able to get a whiff of this after replacing the lid on this candle.

Elephant and Bird 'Dream Believer' Pillowcase, not pictured-Does anyone know how hard pillowcases that aren't attached to pillows are to photograph? Anyway, I just lurve this and I loved this stall at the fair. Luckily you can buy from them online so if anything takes your fancy you can go ahead and shop.

Frankie Magazine, Issue 60-Frankie is like an old and loyal friend for me. It never disappoints me and I can spend hours getting lost in its pages. In fact, it's one of my favourite things to pack in my bag on long train trips. This issue has been one of my favourites recently. The floral and art prints inside are both beauts. If you're in Australia or New Zealand, get your hands on this one.

YSL Baby Doll 'Kiss and Blush' in #01-I picked this little number up in a blog sale recently and I love it. The colour reminds me a bit of the new Bourjois Velvet Lipstick in Pink Pong. A vibrant fuschia, this liquid lipstick is so easy to apply which has to be down to the spoon-shaped applicator. The colour itself dries down to a satin finish and is so long wearing. It's not drying in the slightest and while the colour does wear off eventually, touch ups aren't essential as you're left with a gorgeous stain on the lips.

Broken Bits Clay Hearts, purchased from the Auckland Art and Craft Fair-There doesn't seem to be an online store for this seller, but she does have a Facebook page and travels around various Auckland markets. You may have seen these cropping up in various blog pictures and that's because I think they're so pretty. I can't wait to hang them up on my wall eventually.

The Fault In Our Stars Print-Love. This is my favourite quote from the entire book although there are so many to love within its pages. I'm not gonna lie, the mint green background and old school typeface were both big drawcards too.

-Have you had any particularly spendy moments recently? What did you splurge on?

*I hope everyone's having an amazing week. I currently have some kind of cold virus which isn't ideal but there's not much I can really do about that. What else..oh I saw Jersey Boys at the cinema on Tuesday. It was actually really good. I do have a much softer spot for the musical though but I still loved it regardless. Blog-wise I've been slowly updating the pages and other bits and pieces to match my new template. There's a disclaimer page down the bottom and now I have Disqus installed so commenting should no longer be an issue. Have a fabulous Thursday! xx

A New Look + A Giveaway

You may have noticed that Nana Wintour is looking a bit different now. I've been wanting to give my blog's appearance a major overhaul for a while and finally got around to doing just that last week. Now, I cannot take full credit for what you see as I did purchase my template from here but I love it. I wanted something very minimal, simplistic and chic which I think has been achieved. There's still a little bit of finetuning that I need to do, like updating some of the pages tabs and redoing my Facebook page but other than that it is done. To celebrate the new look I thought it was about time I did another giveaway. One lucky reader will win everything you see above plus a few extras, scroll down for all the 'deets and fill out the rafflecopter form if you want to enter!

What You'll Win

-Pascall Pineapple Lumps-A slightly different inclusion and one my Kiwi readers won't be too excited about but c'mon. Who doesn't like chocolate!? More so when it's free, and potentially from another country.
-Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in 'Oh Mr Darcy'-I'm obsessed with this colour at the moment and it's something everyone needs on their nails, in my opinion.
-Bobbi Brown sample. I also have a Sephora parcel winging its way to me at present so you may spy some other samples in there too.
-Real Techniques Mini Brush Trio-These are so cute! Aside from their cuteness, they're also pretty practical. I have all three in my on the go makeup bag.
-Maybelline new releases incl. Color Tattoo Pigment, Amethyst Shades Eyeshadow Quad and the Big Eyes Liner Duo in #01. I'm not sure if all these new products are out yet so it's a good way to try them out first!
-Frankie Magazine Issue #59-My favourite non-fashion magazine. I love Frankie!
-The Body Shop Gel Liner-I'm not sure if this is a new release from the Body Shop but I'm not a huge fan of gel liners myself so I thought one of you lovely folk would enjoy this.

Terms and Conditions

-This giveaway is open now and will remain open until 12pm on Tuesday the 22nd of July, New Zealand time. I will select the winner at random and will contact them via email, and leave an announcement over on my Facebook.

Good luck! x

Blogger Love Tag

Blogger Love Tag

I discovered this tag over on lipstickwithsomesunshine's blog last week and it's not one I've seen around before so I thought it'd be fun + interesting to do. It's also nice to share the love for fellow bloggers every so often as well don't you think?

-What was the first blog you ever came across?

The first blog I remember reading was an Australian one called Girl With A Satchel. The author is no longer writing it sadly but it was about fashion and offered up some interesting critiques on feminism and fashion from what I can remember.

-Favourite blog reads?

There's so many! The first and most obvious choice is of course Vivianna Does Makeup. I also love and frequently read Gh0stpartiesI Covet Theelipstickwithsomesunshine and What Olivia DidMy Bloglovin follow list also features the many blogs I like to read.

-Best blogging friend?

I'm really lucky to say I have a few blogging friends, both locally and internationally. Hannah from A Lovely Look is probably my blogging BFF though. We used to go to University together so we've known each other for a while. We txt most days about all things blogging and it's often the centre of our discussions when we catch up-along with some beauty+retail enabling of course!

-Name a blog that enables your purchases?

Surprise, surprise, Vivianna Does Makeup. Ever since I stumbled upon Anna in a Daily Mix video I have been captivated by her reviews of all things beauty and fashion. Let's be real here, Anna could probably sell me anything. We have similar tastes in beauty and fashion as well which helps things along. I have her to thank for many of my now favourite products. There hasn't been a single Anna recommendation that I have not liked!

-5 blogs everyone should be reading?

VDM, lipstickwithsomesunshine, Nouvelle DailyShop Style Conquer and Liana Beauty. Again, see my Bloglovin list!

-Your favourite way to read blogs?

Bloglovin for sure! It's like a daily magazine of all my personally chosen content to follow. I love how you can easily see what posts you'll want to read and which you'd rather not. The handy 'heart' button is useful later on if you want to refer back to something as well. When I can I also like to steal my brother's iPad to read blogs in bed but when that's not an option, my MacBook Pro does the trick.

-Bloggers that inspire you?

This'll seem so cheesy but I find Zoe of Zoella inspiring. She's only 24 and has done so well with her blog, YouTube channel, and of course now she has a book deal. She's living my dream basically! I've always loved her aesthetic, particularly in terms of fashion and decor. Seriously, she has decor down. I wouldn't be surprised if she became an interior designer further down the track. I also find her inspiring because she never shies away from showing viewers when she's having a bad day and her openness with anxiety and her other struggles in life make me feel less...crazy. She's such a gem! Anna of course inspires me as well! Particularly with her editorial style content and her videos. She's always so professional and well spoken in her videos.

-Favourite blog design/look?

Lily's of Lily Pebbles. Her design was actually also done by the designer I purchased my new template from. I love her layout, the fonts, all the different features, the clean design. Most of all I like that mint green stripe at the top of her page. It's all so beautifully presented. *insert heart-eyed cat emoji here*

-What is your favourite thing about blogging?

There's so many things I love about blogging. I always enjoy taking photos for my posts. My favourite thing though would definitely be being able to connect with readers and other bloggers from all corners of the globe. I'm lucky to call some pretty amazing bloggers friends and that leaves me feeling so grateful. Oh and I also love when I hear from readers that they've loved a product I recommended after going out and buying it themselves. That always makes my day.

-Name a blogger you would most like to see write a book in the future?

I agree with Tamira, Lisa Eldridge needs to write a book. Although not a makeup tips and tricks sort of thing. Maybe a memoir detailing the amazing shoots and experiences with some of her clients. Something along the lines of Grace Coddington's book. Leandra of Man Repeller also needs to write a follow-up to her brilliant book from last year.

The Week #113

The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Beauty Bloggers Made Me Do It. *Sunday morning fun with my Bloglovin feed and Frankie magazine. *I finished Gilmore Girls last Friday. There were tears. Let's not talk about it... *Baby Real Techniques brushes! Psst, there may have been an extra set purchased. More on that Tuesday. *#Girlboss aka inspiration in one handy paperback tome. *My trial business cards arrived! I may or may not have slipped one into the front of my wallet.

Must-Watch of the Week: Kylie Jenner's current makeup look has been doing the rounds on both YouTube and Instagram of late. It seems many of us favour the overdrawn, pouty nude lip. I like Kylie's makeup, but sometimes I feel it looks just a tad too artificial. Tamira uploaded her take on Kylie's makeup this week and I love it. It's not too overdone and veers more on the natural side of things. If you want to channel Kylie's look with less drama then you'll love this.

Product of the Week: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, available from Countdown if you're in NZ. I guess this product deserves a bit of an apology. I declared the shade Fair completely off for me initially, and wasn't a fan of its paint-like scent. The latter still bothers me, but the shade match right now in Winter is spot on. I've been throwing this and a bit of setting powder on most days this week and it does the job.

Must-Read of the Week: Lily of Lily Pebbles shared some advice around tasteful self promotion this week. If you're a new or established blogger then you'll find her list useful. Social media is definitely such a huge help in getting yourself out there.

Added to the Wishlist: It's a strange day when you realise that concealer has made its way onto your wishlist. Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen is the one I'm liking the look of. #1 That packaging, swoon. #2 The metal applicator which I imagine would have a cooling effect around the eye area. I'm intrigued..

*What have you been loving this week?

-Have the best weekend everyone! I've had quite the productive week in terms of blogging but also jobs and things. Next week is my last week of holidays *sad face* so I'll be making the most of my free time. I'll also be getting some more videos filmed for you all. One of my friends is having her 21st this weekend which will be exciting. Have a fab Friday! x

This post is really just a public service announcement to let you know my first video is finally up! You can watch it here, YouTube is being a pain and won't let me embed it in my post right now. Advanced apologies for the somewhat shaky editing and shaky footage towards the end. Oh and side note, if I reference Autumn it's because I technically filmed this right before Winter set in. I've not used iMovie before so it's all very new to me. Anyway, give it a watch if you fancy. I'd love it if you did! Oh and if you want to go ahead and do this tag yourself you can find Estee and Amelia's original video here. Enjoy!

Sebastian Drymatic

Hair products don't make their way onto NW very often so you know when they do appear that I've got a rave and a half to share. A couple of months back I was sent the new Sebastian Pro Drynamic* to review. I've always liked the idea of dry shampoos and their ability to disguise second or third day hair, but the fact many of them come with an unwanted white cast for darker hair has always scared me off. On a particularly lazy day** I reached for this in my stash and here's what I thought...

#Girlboss

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimised by Regina George dreamed of being your own boss. Well so did Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nasty Gal. She's done good. Her and her company make quite the profit annually. I'd seen the #GIRLBOSS hashtag doing the rounds a few times on Twitter over the last couple of months and, being the curious person that I am, I got investigating...

Beauty Bloggers Made Me Do It

That header says it all really. Who even gets their beauty recommendations from magazines nowadays? Blogs are where it's at! Flashback two years ago and I knew next to nothing about makeup. Most of my knowledge came from Mac and I was only beginning to learn what a Naked palette was and that Tarte was not in fact provocative. Unsurpisingly, many of the products and brands I now know and love have come from reading countless beauty blogs and trawling through my subscription list over on YouTube. Today I thought I'd share a few of the products that I've tried and loved because of beauty bloggers singing their praises too..

Bioderma Sensibio H20Miss Glamorazzi-There's probably many of us who have succumbed to Bioderma. I remember it being one of the first beauty products I heard about when I first watched beauty videos. It can be a bit difficult to track down in New Zealand but it's easier to find online. It's well worth the hunt though! The micellar water literally breaks down your makeup. It never feels stripping on the skin and is super gentle. I'll forever repurchase this one.

Tarte Amazonian Clay BlushVivianna Does Makeup-Many a product that has made its way into my makeup bag over the last year has been at the hands of Anna. Well, indirectly of course. Anna is a skilled enabler when it comes to all things beauty. If you want to see a post on 'Anna Purchases' then let me know! Anyway, these blushers are super long-wearing and look so flattering on the complexion. They don't have excessive shimmer to them, in fact I think these are both matte. Tipsy, the coral shade is one of those blushers that'll perk up your complexion. Exposed on the other hand is one for minimal makeup days as it looks so natural on.

Nars Radiant Creamy ConcealerAmelia Liana-You've probably seen this concealer on many a beauty blog since its launch. The paler shades are notoriously difficult to get hold of but again it's worth tracking down! This concealer is so lightweight yet it offers fantastic coverage. It doesn't crease and blends in seamlessly. In fact, it's almost undetectable on the skin. There's such a wide range of shades too which I think is why this is so popular as well of course as the cake-free finish. I may even have a backup of this waiting for when mine runs out...

The Week #112

The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *A little snippet of my Auckland Art and Craft Fair haul from the weekend. I actually purchased more than this, but the rest was mainly gifts for other people. Ooh mysterious.. *Britney came over on Friday afternoon and we made delicious vanilla cupcakes! I iced those two pink cupcakes you see and while I'm not claiming to be an icing pro, my shaky handiwork seems to be improving. *June Favourites. What can I say? It was a good month for eyes. *Trying out the YSL Kiss and Blush in #01. *More product trialling from this week. *Checking out the new mini selection in Mac. There may have been squeals of delight when I found my favourite Mac mascara in miniature form-False Lash, in case you were wondering.

Must-Watch of the Week: Alfie teaching his Mum internet slang. This video was hilarious, and a little bit cute. I know it's a generational thing. One of my 'rents thinks whenever I have my phone out that I'm taking Snapchats. More like Instagrams...I digress. It's entertaining. Go watch it.

Product of the Week: Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Oh, Mr Darcy!*. I have to say I love the Salon Pro polishes, and they're incredibly affordable too! This greige shade is one of the new colours to drop in our stores and it's a beaut. If you're a fan of bolds then this won't be for you but if you prefer something a bit more subtle then you will love this.

Must-Read of the Week: Monthly favourites roundups are nothing new in the blogosphere, but Olivia of What Olivia Did does my favourite writeups of what she's loved each month. Here's her June feature. If you follow my Instagram you will know I have been loving the #GIRLBOSS book too. More on that soon..

Added to the Wishlist: While I am intrigued by this new Tarte offering, it's actually something a bit more tech centred that's taking my fancy this week. Bring in the Canon 50mm Lens. A lot of bloggers and vloggers swear by this lens. Apparently it helps to deliver that beautiful, blurred background effect which looks particularly stunning in still photography. I know Britney and Caitlin both have this lens and love it. Tempting..

*PR Sample

*In case you missed my tweets last night I uploaded a little introductory video to my YouTube channel! About time huh? Please mind the dodgy quality. I'm blaming the ridiculous weather for that one. Go give it a watch if you like and leave a comment letting me know what you want to see. I want to make videos that you want to watch obviously and YouTube is very unfamiliar territory for me so I don't really know where to begin. Yeah! Oh and subscribe if you're feeling generous.

The Decor Wishlist

You may have seen over on my Facebook last month that my room's getting a fresh coat of paint soon. I'm still making my mind up about colour schemes, but when I realised I'd get to redo my walls afterwards it got me all excited. I've been collecting art prints for a few years and have always wanted to frame them. Now seems like the perfect opportunity! I've been wanting to make a Printstagram collage of my Instagram pictures for a while as well. Can you tell this is more than just a new wall colour to me? Anyway, it's had me trawling through back issues of Frankie and the virtual aisles of Etsy. There's quite a few gems to be found. Whether you want some themed art, or just something that'll look gorgeous on your walls, you're bound to find something. Here's what's caught my eye and been added to the wishlist..

The New Eyeliner For The Cat Flick Novice

When it comes to eyeliner I'm more of a brown, pencil liner girl. I did the whole black liner thing back in high school, no doubt applied too heavily and haven't really ventured back to it since. In the last few years since winged liner took off I came into possession of a couple of liquid liners but found them too much of a nightmare to work with. There's obviously a few of us liner 'noobs around and Benefit know this too. Last month they added two new products to their They're Real family, including an eyeliner said to solve the ultimate beauty dilemma that is lining the eyes...
