The Week #93

The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: Side note: Thank you so much for 400 followers! I know that won't mean much to most of you but to me it means so much! *The Valentines Day beauty heart. *Tanya Burr was in the January Company magazine. It's a great issue on things like blogging+vlogging as well. *A Skincare Update. *Wednesday's beauty essentials. *My view over the weekend out at a friend's place by the beach. *Summer Favourites.

Must-Watch of the Week: Lily Melrose's channel. I'll be honest, I don't watch a lot of fashion videos on YouTube aside from the odd Alexa+Leandra interview, and of course Vogue's channel. Anyway, Lily's channel is an extension of her fashion and beauty blogs. She regularly vlogs fashion hauls, lookbooks and the odd tag or two. Her channel is a lovely little refresher from the beauty videos I often religiously watch and if you're looking for some style inspiration then you're sure to love it too.

Product of the Week: My Mac Eyeshadow Quad, pictured above. #1 I love personalised things and this eye palette is made up almost entirely of colours I selected myself. Mac's quads are great because you can swap out eyeshadows when you want something different and move the colours around. This week in particular I've been a bit time poor so I've been reaching for this quad rather than fussing about looking for individual eyeshadows. I'm loving the shade Tempting, bottom left all over the lids with Handwritten, top left in the crease.

Must-Read of the Week: The Nouvelle Daily ladies must be psychic. I've been talking about Mac eyeshadow palettes with a few of my friends lately when this post on how to go about building your own Mac palettes appeared. They talk about how important it is to choose colours that suit you. The way a colour looks against your skintone and eye colour will differ to how it looks on someone else and that's vital to remember. I also liked this ode to Grace Coddington penned by one of the Rookie writers. "I think her work endures because they are all fantasies rooted in reality. You get the sense that she is acutely aware of how lucky she is to be able to create these magical worlds for a living, and she passes on that wonderment through her images." That quote says it all really.

Added to the Wishlist: Urban Decay Primer Potion. I was very skeptical about trying this primer but it totally impressed me. It has a creamy formula so it doesn't feel drying on the lids and even though it's beige-toned, this doesn't distort eyeshadow colours. In comparison to Nars' offering I would say this is just as good, but cheaper. My eyeshadows didn't crease with this underneath. My only gripe was that I've completely used up my sample of this now. I'll definitely be considering this when my Nars prumer runs out though!

*I hope you all have fabulous weekends! I'm particularly excited about tomorrow as I'm going to a cupcake decorating class. I'm absolutely rubbish at icing and decorating cakes of any kind so I'm looking forward to improving in that department. No doubt you'll see photos if it's not a total fail. Don't forget to enter my giveaway too if you're yet to do so! There's a Tanya Burr lipgloss, John Green book and some miscellaneous beauty bits+pieces up for grabs.
