Mac Backstage Essentials, Part 1

Last month I went along to a Mac Trends Presentation*. As well as the new beauty tricks I learnt, we were also presented with some of Mac's Fashion Week essentials. None of the products we received were ones that I owned or had tried so last month I put these three to the test. Here's what I thought..

Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork-I do already own two other paint pots from Mac but they're either metallic or glittery, so not the best for neutral bases. Bring in Groundwork, a mid-toned neutral taupe. This is the perfect neutral base, it adds a bit of colour to the lids without canceling out any eyeshadow colours you apply over the top. If you're primer-less, paint pots give your shadows something to stick to and help them stay in place longer. Groundwork is my go-to for days when there's not enough time to faff around with eyeshadow. Sweep some bronzer through your crease for some definition, apply mascara and you are good to go.

Mac Sheertone Blush in Peaches-Peaches is one of those blushes that doesn't look particularly special in the pan, but once applied it is a whole different story. This matte blush awakens the complexion and leaves you looking healthier. Having never used Mac blushes before I was pleased to find that they are easy to apply and blend out. Peaches is a more buildable colour so you can control how pigmented you want the blush to look. I definitely want to try more Mac blushes some day so if you have favourite colours leave them in the comments and I'll have a swatch of them.

Mac Eye Kohl in Fascinating-I love Mac's eye and lip pencils. In fact their lip pencils are some of my favourites and they're not so creamy that they'll break apart whenever you use them. Anyway, Fascinating is a matte white. I like to use this on my waterline as it really brightens up the eye area and makes them appear larger. Given that this sits in my waterline it lasts pretty well, usually I have to gently use eye makeup remover to remove this. You can also use a pencil like this in the inner corners of your eye or even along the browbone as a highlight.

-Have you tried any of these Mac products? What did you think of them?

*I hope everyone's having an amazing week so far! I've only had one day back at University as Tuesday's my day off. So far, so good though-until the assignments start that is x.
