All About That Base

'Bout that base...Okay I'll stop with the Meghan Trainor references. Foundation, BB creams, and tinted moisturisers are all staples in many a girl's beauty arsenal. Whether they make your skin look flawless, conceal a multitude of sins or just leave things looking a bit more glowy, we'd be lost without them. I currently have three base options-this one from Rimmel which I'm a bit 'meh' about. I liked it at first but to be honest, I don't think it's that amazing. Then there's the Clear Difference* BB cream. I do like it but it's reserved for good skin/lazy makeup occasions. Lastly we have my ultimate go-to, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet or PLV as I like to call it. Satin finish, buildable coverage and longevity. It's amazing. There's just one problem, I'm running out of it.

Where am I going with this? Well, I'm due to replace my foundation and I'm torn. While I love PLV, I kinda want to try something else. I'm tossing up between this new version of Laura Mercier's silk creme foundation and Nars Luminous Weightless. So what should I do? Stick to tried and tested or try something new? Let me know your input in the comments below. If you've tried either of these foundations let me know what you thought of them.

  1. I'm using the NARS at the moment and I wouldn't recommend it, it's for oily skins which I have but it just makes me look so flat and like I have too much make-up on. I think you have to prep your skin really well in order for the foundation to look nice on the skin, which is too much effort for an everyday foundation. I would go for the tried and tested Chanel!

  2. My skin is heinous at the moment so I feel like I haven't worn foundation in ages, but I reckon sticked with tried and true unless you find something you REALLY want to try!

  3. Ohh really? My skin is combination but it's not that oily anymore. I did have a sample pot of this from Mecca though and found it lasted a ridiculous amount of time on my skin, which I liked. Yeah I'm tempted to get the Chanel one again but I'd say it's more matte than the Nars one & tbh I don't really need something that matte right now. Why is this such a hard decision haha. x

  5. I'm yet to try it, but my sister loves the new Nars foundation, she's using it more than her Giorgio Armani Luminious Silk foundation which is a big statement!

  7. I know how you feel,

I'm about half way through my tarte foundation and am already thinking about my next move! However, I don't want to buy a high end foundation because they're just so expensive :(( I'm going to look for a good drugstore one-- any suggestions for me? You're the queen! x
