April Favourites
So in all honesty I thought my April Favourites selection was going to be extra product heavy but surprisingly it wasn't. A few new products did make their way into the stash but some still need to be put through their paces a bit more before earning favourite status. There were definitely some clear winners this month though, particularly in the skincare department, perhaps even some holy grail contenders. Time will tell..
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask Firstly I love the fruity, somewhat tropical smell of this mask. It instantly feels like you're applying a luxury mask to your face. Despite this being a cream mask it isn't a heavy formula and your skin isn't left feeling tight or tingly, perfect for sensitive skin. If your skin's feeling a bit dry or needs a bit of a moisture boost then this is for you. I talk about this more in depth in part #1 of my bedtime beauty posts which you can read here.
Essie Polish in Absolutely Shore A dusky, duck-egg blue grey offering which is so beautiful as a standalone colour on the nails. While it can be a bit of a nuisance to apply, once on the nails, provided you use top and base coat it will last really well without chipping. Essie's formula just seems to mesh really well with my nails and I'm looking forward to adding more of their colours to my polish collection.
XO Beauty Flat Top Synthetic Face Brush This brush is becoming quite popular among the beauty set and it definitely deserves the hype it gets. This kabuki style brush is so soft and it blends products so well. It works fantastically with liquid products like tinted moisturisers and foundation. I even use this to apply my concealer now because it blends it out so flawlessly. If you're after an affordable face brush then you will definitely like this one.
Jo Malone Redcurrant & Cream Cologne I described this fragrance as being like cake without the calories, but writing that now makes me want to try this scent in dessert form, that's how delectable it is. The scent is exactly like a sweet Macaron filling so it isn't overpoweringly sweet. This fragrance is great to wear by itself or layered with other scents, whichever takes your fancy.
Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant +* A makeup artist recommended applying this to my face at night to add some nourishment to the skin and reduce the appearance of flaws. Admittedly I was skeptical about applying an oil to my already combination/oily skin but seeing as this oil has no nasties in it I was pleasantly surprised. This oil really works wonders on the skin and is fantastic for clearing up blemishes and soothing sensitive areas on the skin.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in #8 This lipstick is luxurious, sheer and not drying, in other words everything I look for in a lipstick. This colour on me is a your lips but better and slightly glossier shade. It has barely left my lips this month.
Mac Veluxe Pearl Eyeshadow in All That Glitters This is another product that hasn't left my makeup bag this month. This is a champagne toned eyeshadow but with slight pink shimmer running through it. This shadow adds a gorgeous wash of colour to the lids. If you're a bright shadow-phobic like me then you will love this.
