May Favourites

The summer makeup has well and truly retired, glittery bronze eyeshadows, I'm looking at you. On the plus side it means the smokey eye and the bold lip colours can come out to play. This month was all about the cult products and some products I would've steered well clear of a year ago. Anyway, experimentation musings aside, here's what made its way into the May Favourites basket.

Real Techniques Blush Brush My powder brush bit the dust last month and after spying the Real Techniques brushes on many a beauty blogger's posts I decided to purchase this one. I use this for powder and find it deposits the perfect amount of product onto the face without creating a chalky effect, not to mention it blends like a dream. These brushes are lightweight and super soft, they remind me of the more luxe Hourglass brushes at a fraction of a price. I loved this brush so much that I went and ordered this one for more precise application.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in #4 Taupe and #12 Bronze I have a confession to make, my black eyeliner has gone into hibernation this month and these beauties have well and truly taken its place. These pencils are super creamy and look amazing at the edge of the lashline for a bit of definition. My favourite way to wear them is like that and then I use the edge of a flat shadow brush to smudge the line out to make it look more natural. These do not budge all day either. I hope they release a gold shade in this formula because they are amazing

Mac Lustre lipstick in Patisserie There's been a lot of lipsticks in rotation this month but this gorgeous nude is the one I keep going back to. On me it is a your lips but better and slightly glossier shade. As it is a lustre formula it is really creamy and quite long-lasting, especially if you've blotted it first. A nude that doesn't wash me out and ticks all the boxes is love quite simply.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP is a coppery champagne hue, so it was almost inevitable that it would take my fancy. Colour fancying aside these shadows glide onto the lids like silk and are super easy to blend. They look fantastic worn by themselves or paired with other shades in the World Famous Neutrals palette.

Butter London Nail Lacquer in Fiver has been on my nails several times this month. It applies really smoothly and once dry feels just like a gel polish. They last a really long time without chipping, my current set of nails have lasted six days so far. Not to mention the colour is gorgeous as well.

Origins Plantscription Concealer in 2-Light/Medium This concealer is the perfect match for my skintone, it blends really well and it doesn't dry cakey so it lasts longer on the skin. It works just as well at concealing blemishes as it does dark circles under the eyes. If you're looking for a lightweight, long- lasting concealer then this is for you.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Kalahari This duo is the foolproof smokey eye in one compact package. This creates such a natural look and without the harshness of black eyeshadow it creates a really subtle smokey eye. It looks fantastic with the bronze Rimmel pencil mentioned above.

Bioderma Crealine H20 Micellar Solution The ultimate holy grail product for removing all traces of makeup, even that stubborn mascara which just refuses to come off your lashes. It definitely removes product like nothing else and it is very easy to see why it has become such a staple in many a beauty fan's stash. You can read more of my musings about it here
