Icon As Muse: Elle Fanning

There's something about Elle Fanning. Not only is she an incredibly gifted actress, she also has a knack for creating outfits that send the fashion world into an excitable frenzy. The likes of Burberry and Marc Jacobs certainly seem to be inspired by her outfit choices. Elle loves to dress girly. She wears a lot of vintage inspired pieces and at times adds some masculine influenced pieces, a la Alexa Chung, into her wardrobe. I love Elle's style. She really cleverly constructs outfits and doesn't take fashion too seriously, she does like to have fun with it. Today I thought I'd show you how to recreate some of Elle's fashion and beauty looks. Enjoy!

Elle in Miss Vogue, Australia

♥ I love the combination of the pencil skirt, printed shirt and the loafers above. It's very preppy but you can always make this less serious with fun accessories and chic glasses which Elle often wears. I love that ring as well, it's so cute!

Beauty

♥ Elle doesn't wear an awful lot of makeup but when she does she always has a matte base, some blusher and a neutral eyeshadow and lip. Her makeup is perfect for every day because it is simple, not too dramatic and really easy to achieve.

Mac Eyeshadows in Woodwinked and A Natural Flirt (limited edition). Try MUA 'Undress Me Too' Palette, available here

Max Factor Cream Blush in Soft Pink*.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. Try Maybelline Fit Me Concealer or Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. The Maybelline concealer is the closest match I could find for the Nars concealer in terms of formula. Rimmel's has a slightly thicker formula and more coverage-go have a swatch to see which shades and formula suit you.

Mac Lipstick in Creme Cup. Try Rimmel  Kate Moss lipsticks or lipgloss. Elle tends to keep her lip look quite natural so a pink-nude or pale pink lipstick or gloss would be perfect. Rimmel's lip glosses are super creamy and pigmented so definitely have a look at those.

Let me know who you'd like to see in my next Icon As Muse post!

  1. Forgive me for only paying attention to the fashion bit, but you've NAILED IT! Also, something I just thought about: camisoles over shirts. For some reason I could see Elle making that odd combination work.

  2. Coming from the stylist king that is one huge compliment, thank you N! I can see her working that look and also the whole slips with tees underneath thing-slightly grungy, slightly undone.
