My 2015 Beauty Resolutions

A New Year inevitably means some reflection and goal-setting for many of us. In the past I have set myself some resolutions which often leave me disappointed if I don't meet them. Instead of letting that happen again this year, I've decided to set myself a couple of goals each month. However, I do have some beauty goals for the year that I thought I'd share with you today...

Avoid getting slack with skincare-After a late night it can be all too tempting to reach for the Bioderma and cotton pads and be done. The aftereffects the next morning though seem to leave me with skin so shiny you could probably see a reflection in it and usually a crater-sized blemish. Even on the not-so late nights I find myself avoiding the cleansers and calling it a night. Whoops. Later today I'll be making myself a star chart. I'll keep you updated..

Wear makeup less-Let's be real, sometimes your skin likes it if you don't wear makeup all week. For many of us though, that isn't an option for a variety of reasons. I'm going to make a conscious effort to not wear as much makeup out and about, unless I need it. For example, a trip to the local shops is not a justifiable excuse to put an entire face of makeup on. I might even just rely on BB cream for Uni this year. Big changes peeps. Big changes.

Have a strict 'one in, one out' policy-I've already started being more disciplined with the makeup and skincare I keep. As I am lucky to receive samples from time to time, things can very easily get out of hand. Whether I buy something or am sent it, I am going to go through my collection and see if it's necessarily something I need to keep post-review or whether or not it could be better re-homed somewhere else. I'm sure my friends will appreciate the latter. I'm also going to do makeup culls more often because there is no way I need that many lip products. Or eyeshadows. Or blushers...

Step outside my brand comfort zone-Nars, Mac....I'll always love you but it's time to give some love to some more brands. I really want to try more from Marc Jacobs, Charlotte Tilbury and Bourjois at the moment to name a few. There's also some skincare brands I'm keen to check out too and hopefully Nails Inc. If you have any brand recommendations for me leave 'em below and I'll add them to my list.

*What are your resolutions, beauty or otherwise for 2015?

  1. Sarah Chapman, La Roche-Posay and Una Brenda are fantastic. Makeup - wise Bite Beauty Lip products and Marc Jacobs High liners are fab!

  2. I love what I've tried from La Roche-Posay (the Effaclar+ duo). Tempted to try some Bite Beauty this year, especially the Agave Lip Mask which I hear a lot about. x

  4. I remember last new years (13/14) - I was staying at a holiday camp and around 1 in the morning on new years eve/new years day there was a lady in the bathrooms doing her complete nightly skincare routine. I was drunk as anything and said "oh my god. I admire you so much!" - I'll be honest, I don't even wash my face at night usually. For her to be strict enough with herself to do that on new years of all the days - in a holiday park no less. I want to be that woman, and your goal just reminded me of it!

  6. I've barely worn makeup in the last month and my skin is SO happy about it! Definitely more makeup-free days this year.

  7. I'm going to try and have more makeup-free days this year too. Sometimes it takes me longer to put my makeup on to go and run some errands, than it actually takes to do the errands - which is so silly!

  9. Yep, same here! It's a bit ridiculous really. If I'm going up the road I try to only put concealer on if I need to and maybe some lipgloss or something but other than that I just skip it out. The same is applicable for Uni really. Although I feel like everyone in my degree is constantly dressed and made up to the nines. x

  10. :D I bet your skin is happy! Mine seems to have settled again after Christmas (chocolate) but I sometimes wonder if Uni makes my skin a bit angry too haha. Who knows..
