beauty lust list '19, part one
Ah beauty-sphere, it has been a hot minute hasn't it? To be honest, I don't wear a lot of makeup anymore. I mean when I do, it's almost eventful. How times change! Most days I just faff with a bit of concealer, maybe mascara/lash curler and gloss/a neutral lip. But I still love the ritualistic process of applying makeup, I still love seeing glittery eyeshadows and what brands are up to but I am not...religious about it. If that makes sense. Anyway, lately though I've been thinking about some things I want to repurchase-because I am one of those people now as well as some new (ish) bits I want to try out. A beauty lust list or 'things I want to get on pay day' spiel if you will...
Liquid Blush x NARS: I think Cloud Paint converted me to cream/liquid blush. Matte powders just look...flat to me now and I find myself wanting to up the shimmer or reach for a highlight. Anyway after seeing these on Fi's Instagram stories and having a cheeky swatch in store, I want one. So pretty!
Extended Play Perm Me Up Lash Mascara x MAC Cosmetics: The OG Extended Play is one of my favourite mascaras ever, so the fact there's a newbie with a bit of a lash lifting wand? Yes. Please. Get in my life. I mean, I am a bit nervous to try this because I love the original so much-irrational makeup lover problems or something but yeah-I see it, I like it, I want it. You get the gist.
Brushes x Zoeva: Zoeva brushes are the best and mine are well-loved so I just wanna replace some of the faves more than anything. Buffer brush and the various eye brushes, I will be coming for you.
Eye Gels x Patchology: I was actually pretty sparing with the last set of these patches I had but I ran out and my eyes miss 'em. If only because they were just such a treat to use but also they brightened+hydrated the eye area like nobody's business. Um, maybe keep me away from Mecca on payday? Ha.
Cheek to Chic x Charlotte Tilbury: Pillow Talk is such an iconic CT shade-the lipstick is my favourite neutral and when she expanded the collection to include this blusher, among other things, my heart sang. I have never tried the Cheek To Chic blushers but this one looks stunning.

A Summer Wishlist
Aka, the one where I lust after things I kinda want and of course don't necessarily need per se but they've all taken my fancy recently. Scroll down if you want to see what I am lusting after...
Gettin' crafty: Last year I made it my mission to undertake some ceramic making classes. Sadly it didn't happen but hey, there is always 2018. I am determined to make it happen and am hoping to do one of Eloise Worrall-Bader's amazing classes. Other things I want to learn: calligraphy and not so much learn but I want to go to one of those wine+painting classes. Although the latter may take some working up to-if only because I know I'm terrible at drawing and found art class in high school emotionally scarring. *Perhaps it would have been improved with a beverage....
Will & Grace: The WAG obsession continues. Why I didn't just get the box set from the get-go I am not sure. However I am loving this show so naturally I want ALL of the DVD's and seasons and vice versa. Give me my fix of classic one-liners and shade throwing before shade throwing was a phenomenon.
Classic Lit: "So you're reading some Classics. About time." That is an actual quote that was said to me. Um, rude. Although in seriousness, the only classics I have read since high school are some Shakespearean plays and The Great Gatsby. I have The Catcher In The Rye and also I Capture The Castle but Franny & Zooey is on my list, as is The Secret Garden and Lady Chatterley's Lover. The Bell Jar is on my list too.
Himalayan Salt Lamp: These always catch my eye when I pop into Bread & Butter Letter. They're not the prettiest perhaps but I love the ambience they bring to rooms. That and I am kinda obsessed with things like this. Anything to at least create but hopefully give the illusion of good vibes.
Positive Cards: Thanks to Betty Magazine, who bring a lot of coolness to my attention, I discovered Oh Squirrel. She makes a bunch of stunning, beautifully designed things but it's her cards I love. Specifically these complimentary ones. Glittery, flora+fauna, handwritten lettering and bold type? Yes please. Plus they're a bit tongue in cheek and I love that. Get in my liiiife please.
Coffee: Well more specifically, a vessel to house my coffee. Well not only that but to proclaim my devotion to it as well. Y'know. The important things basically. In seriousness, paper coffee cups and plastic bottles make me feel guilty. So I do want to invest in one of these and a glass water bottle. If only to feel less like a bad tidy kiwi.

The Spring Wishlist
During mid-semester break I've been indulging in one of my favourite pastimes, online window-shopping. Also known as the one where I stare like the heart-eyed cat emoji at the things I'd buy, right now if money were no object. The reality is I may inevitably purchase some of the products on this list but it will be a much more gradual, drawn out process. Unless, I win Lotto in which case all self-imposed restrictions will promptly go out the window. So here's what is on my wishlist this Spring; there's a mix of beauty, some fine paper goods because y'all know how I feel about them and some fashion to round things out.
Rifle Paper Co Herb Garden Wall Calendar-I loved my Frankie calendar that I have this year but honestly I prefer a calendar that's a bit smaller. Here's where the Rifle Paper Co one comes in. It's small, each page contains a gorgeous flora and fauna, or in this case herb themed illustration. To top it off there's some gold detailing on the pages. Swoon.
Hourglass Cosmetics Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick-The one or two foundation sticks I've tried in the past have been a bit of a mess basically. The colours have been off but they've also been thick and just generally not a good time, for my face or for applying. This one's full coverage but in the one or two videos I've seen it used in it doesn't look overly heavy. I imagine you could sheer it out even further with something like a complexion sponge if full coverage isn't really your thing. Admittedly a heavier base isn't really what I go for in Spring/Summer but I'm in need of a new foundation so I might have to give this a try.
Lonely Lingerie Winona Bra-There's something luxe and lovely about Lonely lingerie. I have a few of their pieces and they're just so darn special. I also lovelovelove their campaign imagery and the fact they design lingerie for real, diverse women. Blush pinks and khaki+lighter greens are two colours I'm really digging at the moment. The Winona bra satisfies my yearning for the former colour. It's lacy, strappy and so luxe. I love it.
Tuesday Bassen Erase You Pin-Support the OG designer of these pins, not the Zara knockoffs guys. One of Wellington's indie stores, Madame Fancy Pants is going to be stocking a range of Tuesday Bassen's pins and patches very soon and honestly, I want all of them. I particularly like this erase you pin because let's be real, who doesn't have people or moments they'd happily like to erase from the picture? I also love the Girls flag pin they have too. Get in my life.
Kikki K 2017 A6 Diary Pistachio-Every year I purchase a Kikki K diary to use. It's been that way for as long as I can remember now. The last couple of years I've bought their 'inspire' diary but I want to go back to the classic diary for 2017. It's a bit simpler but I figured I can always pretty it up with some washi tape and things. I can't resist this new pistachio colour either. So pretty!
Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau De Parfum-This is definitely one of the 'if I won the Lottery' items because I have quite the collection of fragrances. I spritzed this in Mecca when I visited with Emma a few weeks ago and she liked it as well. Byredo's fragrances have a cult following for a reason, their Gypsy Water one seems to be a fan favourite. There's something special about Mojave Ghost though. Its notes include ambrette, Jamaican nesberry, violet, sandalwood, magnolia base, chantilly musk, crisp amber and cedarwood. I seem to be naturally drawn to fragrances that contain sandalwood and floral base notes so maybe that's why I'm so taken by it. What I do know is this is such a unique, beautiful fragrance and I'm going to keep coveting it for some time yet.
the gentlewoman magazine-The new issue of The Gentlewoman keeps with my preference for longer, more book-esque magazines. This is one that champions women so I'm even more of a fan of it. Zadie Smith covers this issue, on the eve of the launch of her latest novel. Erin Brockovich is also featured, designer Grace Wales Bonner among others. This magazine's quite wordy which I love so this would be perfect to take on my travels later in the year.

February Wishlist
We probably all have a list of things we need to buy. Lately for me that's been skincare (side note: why does everything run out at the same time?) and new running shoes. However it's always fun to make another list of the things you'd like to buy if money were no obstacle. I even have a board on Pinterest devoted to the very concept. Well, here's what's taking my fancy in February..
Zara Suede Combination Citybag-Zara's citybags have been on my wishlist for a while. If you know me you'll know I never carry big enough bags and this one is the perfect size from what I have heard and seen. I could only find them in garish colours when I was in Melbourne *sheds tear*. I love the combination of suede and leather in this style, it just adds a little bit more character to this bag.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes, pictured are Blissful and Exposed-My new favourite term is the 'blogger effect' wherein a blogger raves about a product (any product) and you feel compelled to try it yourself. The Essie Button effect is certainly at play here with my desire to own Tarte blushes. These blushes are highly pigmented and evidently super long-wearing. I like that the shade range is mostly matte as well. These colours in particular look so pretty. PS-Tarte, you should set up shop in Auckland xo.
Topshop Nina Mid Heels-Sequined, sky high heels sure are fun to look at but not so much to walk in. These simple, elegant heels look stunning. I love that they have a mid-length heel as well so you don't have to walk cautiously in them. Wins all round.
Ted Baker Medium Wash Bag-If you've ever been to a Ted Baker store you'll know that they have gorgeous bags, shoes, and dresses-girly heaven basically. These makeup bags are what take my fancy though and they are stunners in person. The ones with the rose gold hardware are particularly luxe. They're silk lined too. Who wouldn't feel special taking this traveling or rifling through it in the morning?

June Lust List
I've been casting my eyes over the online retail heavens recently, in search of some things I just can't seem to find in the shops in Auckland and also to get ideas for friends upcoming birthdays. There are definitely some real gems around though, Topshop, here's looking at you. Here's a look at what's on my June lust list. Fairy Godmother, take note..
My birthday is coming up and I'm on the hunt for a nice party frock. I think this one is really pretty, especially with the lace. The Nars pencil is giving me Mac Lady Danger vibes and it'd be lovely in Winter. The bug necklace is really taking my fancy at the moment though. Despite my fear of most insects I love pieces of jewellery like this. My finger is hovering over the 'buy now' button for this one.

Beauty Lust List
Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Regarded as the holy grail product for preventing eyeshadows from creasing. This'd be a dream product for an eyeshadow lover and oily-lidded girl like myself.
Bobbi Brown Blush in Nude Peach Peach blushes are usually something I avoid so when one of the makeup artists at Bobbi Brown applied this on me I was surprised to see that the colour suited my skintone. This colour is perfect to give skin a bit of a natural flush during Winter.
Benefit World Famous Neutrals Palette in Most Glamorous Nudes Benefit is coming to town soon and this collection of palettes is one of their newest product offerings. Complete with four powder and two cream eyeshadows this would make a lovely addition to anyone's makeup collection.
Stella by Stella McCartney Confession: I love perfumes. They're one of the first things I head towards when I'm in a department store. This scent consists of notes of Rose, Peony Flower, Mandarin, Rose Absolute and Amber. It smells like no other fragrance I've owned and I love it. One for the duty free list perhaps?

Wintour Wishlist
Given that the nights are definitely beginning to get a lot cooler and my jumpers have begun to emerge from drawers it seemed appropriate that I started to think about Winter outfits. After a quick glance through my wardrobe it came to my attention that I actually don't possess a great deal of Winter clothing. Before you know it I was hunting around the mecca that is online stores and compiled this list of items I'd quite like to join my wardrobe..
After mourning the end of the now sold out cat themed collection by Twenty Seven Names it seems to have become my mission to find fashion items that reference cats. I do love my tights in winter and these are just the cutest! I am also particularly lovestruck by that dress, the Parka which gives me Alexa Chung vibes and dusky pink shoes a la Kate Middleton.

This Chanel print is one of many stunning options in this gorgeous Etsy shop. It'd look amazing in a white frame I think! A new bag is on my wishlist as my faithful one is looking noticeably dated, Forever New also have some stunning options in store at the moment. That NARS duo is so so so beautiful, champagne & dusty rose eyeshadows are my favourites.

My Christmas Wishlist
-So I've done a couple of gift guides already but I hadn't made my own wishlist as such. I think my Christmas Shopping is for the most part done, yay! I'm definitely going to try to get one of those Bubble Bars before Christmas is over though & the Topshop blouse & wallet. I will continue daydreaming about those perfect Chloe flats in the meantime...

Monday Marvel #17; Fragrance Fantasies
This time of year seems to be when I start wanting a new fragrance for summer & the new year. It also seems to be the time a lot of new fragrances make their way onto the market & onto countless Christmas lists.
I'm currently trying to choose a new fragrance, so hard, #firstworldproblems & vice versa. It'll have to be from Duty Free or on sale though, I never buy fragrances full price. They are way too expensive otherwise!
Anyway, here's the scents I am wishing for at the moment:

Summer Wishlist+A Giveaway!!
It's been a while since I've compiled a proper wishlist & the change of season seemed an appropriate time to start dreaming of new things again. There are definitely things on here which I won't ever dream of owning unless I win the lottery (ahem, Mulberry bag) but some I'd quite happily see joining my wardrobe & life in the not too distant future.

I'd quite like all of the above but if I was to pick a favourite item from this list it'd have to be the Mulberry 'Alexa' bag, inspired by the one & only Alexa Chung of course. I need a decent sized handbag which is big enough to fit all my essentials in, but not so big that I can't find anything & this one would be perfect. Again, when I win Lotto this would be one of the first things I bought.

Today I went on a retail daydream at Karen Walker. I fell in love with....
A little disclaimer: I love Karen Walker as a brand, her designs are always so gorgeous. Her jewellery & eyewear are just as stunning as her clothes. This is probably one of my most expensive wish lists to date but I genuinely love everything on it. So this post is the epitome of 'maintaining a lifestyle I can't afford' but hey, a girl's allowed to dream, right?
