9 Things I'm Currently Loving
Lately I've become a lot looser with the structure of this blog. By that I mean I'm more willing to change things around, take a risk or two and not stick so religiously to my schedule, whether that be posts or what I want to stick on Instagram. Life's too short to analyse the minute details. With that in mind, I saw a similar post over on Rebecca's blog, which I love and you should all bookmark it because her content is top notch. Lists are such a perfect way to round up things and moments etc that you love so here we have it. Nine things I am loving currently in no particular order...
An abundant stack of books beside my bed. This is hardly a current love, rather more of a permanent love. During the week I usually read last thing at night and there's always something comforting about coming to bed, propping up several pillows and then choosing a book. As I am a bit of a serial-reader when it comes to books, I'm always reading more than one thing at once. At the moment that means I'm drifting between: On The Other Side*, How To Be A Woman, The Course of Love and Girl Up*.
Listening to Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album. Rumours is hands down one of my all-time favourite albums. I'm terrible at reviewing music but this album is just perfect. It's my go-to when I want a bit of escapism. You can't beat a bit of Stevie Nicks, let's be honest. My favourite songs are; Second Hand News and Gold Dust Woman but the whole thing is fantastic.
Lush Baths. Whilst there's a lot to detest about Winter, baths are one of the many blessings. More so if you have a bath bomb, book and candle burning in the background. Utter bliss. You cannot beat Lush's bath bombs and while some of them are a bit pricy, I do love them. My favourites are; Frozen, Avobath and Butterball.
Baking sweet treats. I have the biggest sweet tooth out and will take something sweet over savoury any day. Although those parmesan balls I had on Monday do challenge that. I don't get baking very often in all honesty but when I do, I am reminded how much I enjoy it. There's something very gratifying about spending an hour or two crafting something edible and then watching everyone enjoy it. Two of my go-to books for all things sweet are; Melie's Kitchen and Donna Hay's Chocolate book.
Absolutely Fabulous. "Sweetie darling. "Bitch troll from hell." "Lacroix, sweetie, Lacroix." I have a lot of love for Edina Monsoon and Pasty Stone. They're vile caricatures of fashion-types but there's just something so likeable about them. Perhaps it's because they poke fun at the world they inhabit and just genuinely have no cares to give about how they're interpreted. They have absolutely no filter either, case in point. Such a fabulous, witty show. Go give it a watch if you've never seen it.
Handwritten letters. The act of receiving and writing them. I don't do this often enough but I have friends who I don't see very often and friends that live miles, even continents away so it's really something I need to partake in more. I've made a little list of people I'm going to write letters to though as it's such an important way of keeping in touch, especially in the age of instant everything.
How To Be A Woman x Caitlin Moran. This book has been beside my bed for a while but I've finally been getting back into it properly and I am loving it. Caitlin Moran is one of my favourite writers/tweeters/people so naturally I have been immersing myself in everything she's written. I know this book came out a while back now but it's still just as relevant and worthy of attention. Her essay on feminism and discovering feminist beliefs and ideals resonated with me so much. It's the closest thing I've read that articulates how I feel on a number of points. If I wasn't worried about attracting unwanted attention, I would've done a full round of applause on the train as I read it. This is one of those books I want to give to everybody now.
Ouai Wave Spray. Ouai is the brainchild of Jen Atkin, hair stylist and the woman responsible for keeping the Kardashian's tresses, among countless others, looking so darn good. Ouai's recently been added to Sephora NZ's lineup and I'd heard a lot about the Wave Spray so I had to try it. Oh. My. God. It is so, so good. It's weightless and gives my hair the perfect amount of texture and body without taking things to the Hermione Granger levels of frizz. It also doesn't leave your hair feeling dehydrated and crispy like some salt sprays designed to create waves do. It's cruelty free as well which I love and a little goes a long way. Alexa Chung's a reported fan too should you need further enticing.
Mood boarding. This is my most recent mood board that I made and I think it has to be one of my favourites. They're the perfect visual representation of my interests and aesthetic preferences at the time. That and they're pretty to look at. I also keep a visual journal as well which is like a scaled down version of what goes on my wall. It's one of my favourite forms of escapism.

Holiday Beauty Haul
Two hauls in a week?! What is this sorcery... I'm back today with another haul in video form. You'll find all the non-Sephora beauty purchases that I made whilst I was in Australia. There's not heaps really but these products are all ones I know are going to get a lot of use. Enjoy, and keep an eye out for my final Sydney haul in a couple of weeks.

February Wishlist
We probably all have a list of things we need to buy. Lately for me that's been skincare (side note: why does everything run out at the same time?) and new running shoes. However it's always fun to make another list of the things you'd like to buy if money were no obstacle. I even have a board on Pinterest devoted to the very concept. Well, here's what's taking my fancy in February..
Zara Suede Combination Citybag-Zara's citybags have been on my wishlist for a while. If you know me you'll know I never carry big enough bags and this one is the perfect size from what I have heard and seen. I could only find them in garish colours when I was in Melbourne *sheds tear*. I love the combination of suede and leather in this style, it just adds a little bit more character to this bag.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes, pictured are Blissful and Exposed-My new favourite term is the 'blogger effect' wherein a blogger raves about a product (any product) and you feel compelled to try it yourself. The Essie Button effect is certainly at play here with my desire to own Tarte blushes. These blushes are highly pigmented and evidently super long-wearing. I like that the shade range is mostly matte as well. These colours in particular look so pretty. PS-Tarte, you should set up shop in Auckland xo.
Topshop Nina Mid Heels-Sequined, sky high heels sure are fun to look at but not so much to walk in. These simple, elegant heels look stunning. I love that they have a mid-length heel as well so you don't have to walk cautiously in them. Wins all round.
Ted Baker Medium Wash Bag-If you've ever been to a Ted Baker store you'll know that they have gorgeous bags, shoes, and dresses-girly heaven basically. These makeup bags are what take my fancy though and they are stunners in person. The ones with the rose gold hardware are particularly luxe. They're silk lined too. Who wouldn't feel special taking this traveling or rifling through it in the morning?

The Melbourne Haul, Volume 2
As well as the beauty shopping I did whilst in Melbourne there were a few extra bits and pieces that I picked up too. Everything else purchased was gifts for friends and family for Christmas, some of whom read this blog so I couldn't really share those here! Again, like the beauty products I was mainly trying to get hold of things that we can't readily find in New Zealand, here's looking at you Zara and Topshop. A lot of the clothing stores in Australia are identical to the ones you'll find in New Zealand so I tended to not go into those. On the whole though Melbourne has fantastic shopping, everything is so accessible and if there's something you cannot find in one particular place, there's bound to be another store nearby you'll be able to purchase it from. Like last week's post I've attached links where possible so you can find out more about these products if you want to.
Zara Basic Shorts. Floral print is usually what I gravitate towards in most clothing stores. When I saw these Zara shorts it seemed likely they'd come home with me. What I love is that they're quite dressy with silk material and lace trimming along the edges. These could easily be paired with some strappy sandals or heels for a more formal affair if you're getting tired of dresses and skirts over the summertime.
Lucky Magazine, October '13. I can never seem to find Lucky in New Zealand so I grabbed a copy while it was there in Mag Nation. It's a magazine that I haven't read before and now that Eva Chen is Editor in Chief I was more intrigued to see what the magazine is like. Keep an eye out for a review soon.
Topshop Floral Devore A-Line Skirt. Topshop's an interesting place. I love their clothing but a lot of the time the sizing can be a bit off. Most of the time sizing up becomes essential because the women's sizes seem to run quite small. Anyway, I saw this skirt on the rack and loved the print as well as the fact that it had velvet embellishing. I love this skirt and it is super high waisted so it'd look best with heels in Summer. I can also see it getting a lot of wear in Winter with thick tights and ankle boots.
Karen Walker Cat Cookie Cutter, available from Myer & The Department Store (if you're in Auckland). The cat cutter isn't pictured above but we also picked up the flower, which you can see. If you're familiar with the cat ring though then it's the same symbol, just in cookie cutter form. How adorable is this!? I'm really looking forward to the next time I decide to make biscuits.

June Lust List
I've been casting my eyes over the online retail heavens recently, in search of some things I just can't seem to find in the shops in Auckland and also to get ideas for friends upcoming birthdays. There are definitely some real gems around though, Topshop, here's looking at you. Here's a look at what's on my June lust list. Fairy Godmother, take note..
My birthday is coming up and I'm on the hunt for a nice party frock. I think this one is really pretty, especially with the lace. The Nars pencil is giving me Mac Lady Danger vibes and it'd be lovely in Winter. The bug necklace is really taking my fancy at the moment though. Despite my fear of most insects I love pieces of jewellery like this. My finger is hovering over the 'buy now' button for this one.

Wintour Wishlist
Given that the nights are definitely beginning to get a lot cooler and my jumpers have begun to emerge from drawers it seemed appropriate that I started to think about Winter outfits. After a quick glance through my wardrobe it came to my attention that I actually don't possess a great deal of Winter clothing. Before you know it I was hunting around the mecca that is online stores and compiled this list of items I'd quite like to join my wardrobe..
After mourning the end of the now sold out cat themed collection by Twenty Seven Names it seems to have become my mission to find fashion items that reference cats. I do love my tights in winter and these are just the cutest! I am also particularly lovestruck by that dress, the Parka which gives me Alexa Chung vibes and dusky pink shoes a la Kate Middleton.

This Chanel print is one of many stunning options in this gorgeous Etsy shop. It'd look amazing in a white frame I think! A new bag is on my wishlist as my faithful one is looking noticeably dated, Forever New also have some stunning options in store at the moment. That NARS duo is so so so beautiful, champagne & dusty rose eyeshadows are my favourites.

Get The Look: Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries
I think the world of fashion television would definitely crown Carrie Bradshaw their fashion queen, both during Sex & The City & of course more recently, The Carrie Diaries. The styling on The Carrie Diaries is the genius of Eric Daman, who was responsible for all those fabulous outfit creations we saw on Gossip Girl. Normally eighties fashion on television or in film seems to be done in a way that makes it obviously appear dated & at times daggy. On The Carrie Diaries however the styling so far appears fashion forward with a touch of modern elegance whilst still paying homage to the decade.
AnnaSophia Robb herself has said in interviews that a lot of the clothing featured throughout the show has come from stores like H&M & TopShop. Seeing as her character does have a rather amazing wardrobe on the show I thought it'd be fun to try recreating Carrie inspired outfits myself. All of these clothes are from TopShop so you can recreate these looks yourself!

My Christmas Wishlist
-So I've done a couple of gift guides already but I hadn't made my own wishlist as such. I think my Christmas Shopping is for the most part done, yay! I'm definitely going to try to get one of those Bubble Bars before Christmas is over though & the Topshop blouse & wallet. I will continue daydreaming about those perfect Chloe flats in the meantime...
*I hope you all have marvellous Mondays! This week is going to be rather busy with plenty happening which is going to be chaotic...but fun!

Summer Wishlist+A Giveaway!!
It's been a while since I've compiled a proper wishlist & the change of season seemed an appropriate time to start dreaming of new things again. There are definitely things on here which I won't ever dream of owning unless I win the lottery (ahem, Mulberry bag) but some I'd quite happily see joining my wardrobe & life in the not too distant future.

I'd quite like all of the above but if I was to pick a favourite item from this list it'd have to be the Mulberry 'Alexa' bag, inspired by the one & only Alexa Chung of course. I need a decent sized handbag which is big enough to fit all my essentials in, but not so big that I can't find anything & this one would be perfect. Again, when I win Lotto this would be one of the first things I bought.
