Monday Muse(s)

Today it is Waitangi Day which is New Zealand's national holiday, or as I call it 'Kiwi Day'. So to all my New Zealand readers I hope you're having a relaxing day off.  As I accidentally forgot about 'Monday Muse' last week this post will feature two muses. Enjoy!

Audrey Hepburn

What is not to love about this classic beauty? I've been a fan of Audrey for a number of years now but have only recently started looking at more of her films and the legacy which she left behind in greater detail. She was such a poised individual who never let her fame affect her in a negative way. Not to mention her impeccable sense of style, all those years collaborating with Givenchy for her film wardrobe clearly had a positive influence on her!

One of my favourite quotes by Miss Hepburn is: "I never think of myself as an icon. What is in other people's minds is not in my mind. I just do my thing." Simply put, be yourself, never allow anyone else's perception of you to modify your judgement and the way you perceive yourself. If more of us did this the world would be a better place.

Zooey Deschanel

In honour of 'New Girl' which starts here tomorrow I thought it'd be nice to feature Zooey, as she's really starting to gain the recognition she finally deserves. Many will be familiar with her performance in '500 Days of Summer' but she also headlines the band 'She & Him' and is one of the co-founders of Hello Giggles.com.

Again, much like Audrey Hepburn, Zooey is an individual beauty with a very unique sense of style and is not just like any other celebrity. Case in point: Even though they clashed with her green dress, Zooey rocked a tuxedo manicure at the 'Golden Globes'. How awesome is that? I'm really looking forward to finally seeing her in 'New Girl' and hopefully hearing some new music from her soon.
