Brilliant Blogs, Edition 7I recently stumbled upon two gorgeous fashion & lifestyle blogs. They are both beautifully written & always accompanied by stunning photography. Today's post is about the first of those two blogs; Avenue Maria.
Avenue M is the brainchild of Maria from Australia. She describes herself as a vintage enthusiast with a love for art, photography cups of tea & her family. Her blog is crammed with inspiration; from her personal style through to the DIYs & pretty pictures she finds via her Pinterest.
Maria's blog interface! I told you it was stunning.
Maria was kind enough to answer some questions I sent her. Be sure to follow her Instagram @avenuemaria too when you're done reading.
1. What made you decide to start a blog?
-I've always loved to draw, read and write. I started my first blog when I was 12 years old and it was called 'In Review'. At about the age of 13 I gave it a makeover and changed the name to Avenue M, because I've always dreamed of shopping along the boutique lined avenues in Paris. I added 'Maria' to it and 'Avenue M' was born! Blogging is a wonderful creative outlet, place to share my personal style and inspiration, but most importantly; connect with other people who share similar interests to mine.
2. Describe your personal style.
-I'm very girlie and find inspiration from the pages of Frankie, vintage clothing stores and the 1950's. One day I hope to own a closet full of colourful, unique accessories, full skirts and feminine dresses.
3. You always share the most gorgeous images on your blog & Pinterest. Where is your favourite place to find inspiration?
-Well, I follow lots of wonderful people on Pinterest. They fill my dashboard up with amazing projects, food and fashion. I'm also quite active on my tumblr, and follow beautiful blogs that are all about vintage finds, unique details from runway shows and ethereal photography. I'm constantly reading fashion magazines too, so inspiration is never far away!
4. Who is your favourite fashion designer & why?
-I've always had a thing for Dior...but lately I've been stumbling upon new designers. Luisa Beccaria is probably one of my favourites. It all depends on the theme they are going for for each collection!
5. Finally, I know you love literature. If you had to recommend one book to my readers what would it be?
-I'm a hopeless romantic when it comes to novels. My all time favourite is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. It's flawlessly written and (in my opinion) one of the best love stories ever told. Aside from that, I also really enjoyed reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett and One Day by David Nicholls. All three are brilliant.
Thank you so much for answering my questions Maria! Nana Wintour likes you.
