Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee

There is something about eco-friendly beauty that's always appealed to me, especially the simplicity of what goes into products as well of course the fact that they're more often than not cruelty free as well. Josie Maran is known for her argan oil based products but it was these cheek gelees that caught my eye during a Sephora browsing session (please tell me I am not the only one who does this..). My friend Hannah of Shedding Glitter kindly sent me one of the gelees in the shade Poppy Paradise and it is the only blush I've been wearing this month.

Cheek gelees are like cream blushes but as the name would suggest they have a jelly-like texture. These are not sticky or tacky in any way. The gelees are infused with coconut water which is known to be hydrating and adds a glow to the face. The formula of these blushes doesn't seem to emphasise pores and rather than add an obvious streak of colour, you are left looking naturally flushed.

Poppy Paradise is described as a warm toned hot pink and in its jar it looks very red. Don't be intimidated by the bright colours though! These blushes are sheer so you can build up the colour depending on how much product you like to wear. I find using a duo fibre brush like the Mac #188 or the one in this set work best with cream blush. Duo fibre brushes pick up the perfect amount of product and make it harder to go overboard.

Josie Maran's cheek gelees boast a 14 hour wear time which seems crazy but they really do last ages once applied. Blush is one of the first products to usually disappear off my face but this blush stays around, even on the hottest of days. The colour does fade on me around the 6 or 7 hour mark but it is still noticeable.

I have been really impressed by the watercolor cheek gelees, especially the staying power. At $22 you certainly won't be burning holes in your wallet with this purchase. You can buy Josie Maran products here but if you're outside America try eBay as I have spied them on there before.
