Unapologetic and Elusive

That title sounds like words lifted from a bad dating profile. In fact, they are the name of two of Revlon's new Colorburst Matte Balms. These are arguably one of the most anticipated beauty launches of the year and they're finally available in New Zealand. When I spotted these in my local Farmers it was a case of swatch and promptly hand over the cards. There are an array of colours available in the matte range, from purples to nudes, even your statement reds. You're sure to find at least one colour you'll like. Elusive and Unapologetic were my favourites from the matte selection and here is what I think about them..

Elusive-I expected this shade to be closer to a nude but in fact on the lips it's more of a rosy pink. The pink gives it a bit more oomph than your standard nude shade. Elusive is very wearable. It'd make a great everyday shade and I can see it flattering a wide variety of skintones.

Unapologetic-At the complete opposite end of the colour spectrum is this vibrant red-pink. It reminds me a lot of Impassioned by Mac actually. Two swipes of this across the lips will leave you with full colour payoff. Unapologetic is a stunner on its own but if you want to make even more of a statement pair it with a sheer lipgloss for a glossier finish.

Pardon the Instagram snap! Here's what Unapologetic looks like on. I don't have any photos of me wearing Elusive but you will see it in an upcoming post.

So are the Matte Balms worth the hype? Absolutely! They're pigmented, creamy and pretty darn long wearing, as you would expect. One thing to be wary of is that they can cling to dry patches on your lips, so make sure your lips are smooth and conditioned before you apply these. I recommend wearing a lip balm underneath.

If you're in New Zealand, Farmers have a 3 for 2 deal on this month so you can stock up on these colours and save!

*I hope everyone's having a fantastic week! I'm so tired, even though it's only Tuesday as I write this but I've had some fun and inspiring evenings this week. Monday I went along to hear Jenene speak at Generator with the lovely Hannah from A Lovely Look and then I had a spontaneous Skype session with Maria tonight. Who knows what Wednesday will bring xo.

  1. Need to get one of these! They look amazing - unfortunately the Queen St Farmers closed down so I'll have to go to Newmarket or something :)
