#Girlboss

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimised by Regina George dreamed of being your own boss. Well so did Sophia Amoruso, founder of Nasty Gal. She's done good. Her and her company make quite the profit annually. I'd seen the #GIRLBOSS hashtag doing the rounds a few times on Twitter over the last couple of months and, being the curious person that I am, I got investigating...

#Girlboss is more than just a manifesto, it's a way of life. It'll leave you feeling inspired, motivated, and perhaps a little "kick-ass" as Anna notes. Sophia chronicles her days pre-Nasty Gal and the countless careers she went through before settling on what she wanted to do. She also talks about how exactly Nasty Gal came to be. Heads up: A lot of hard work, staying one step ahead of the game and not getting too ahead of yourself are key. Staying humble and not getting too caught up in success is also mandatory in being a successful Girlboss. She notes that all the jobs at Nasty Gal are great, because at one point or another she has done them all. Each chapter is also broken up with motivational quotes and stories from other #Girlbosses, including Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. Another point she talks about is the power of seeing creativity in everything which I think is key to a lot of success stories.

If you're in need of some inspiration or just wanting to take your business plans or ideas to the next level, #Girlboss is for you.

*Have you read #Girlboss? What did you think of it?

  1. Ah sounds amazing! I know you offered to let me borrow it, but I'm tempted to actually buy it so I'll always have a copy - for inspiration and the like :)
