The Week #72
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *The current contents of my skincare shelf. *Watched This Is Us, with some fellow directioners. *Some of my visual inspirations. *My new quilt combining my love of spots and florals. *KiwiYo goodness with friends. *Some of yesterday's purchases.
Must-Watch of the Week: I'm sure by now you'll know I love Lorde and her music, I have that in common with the girl population of New Zealand the world. Anyway one of our local current affairs shows did an interview with her. It was really good and if you didn't think Lorde was a genius before you will after watching it. The full interview can be watched here. To my overseas readers, sorry if this doesn't play for you. I'm not sure if it'll work outside of NZ.
Product of the Week: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Streak, available here. I do love creamy lipsticks but sometimes they can be a bit sheerer and therefore aren't as long lasting. This lipstick is creamy, pigmented and super long lasting. It does dry to a near-matte finish but it doesn't feel drying on the lips like some matte lipsticks can. In short, I love this lipstick.
Must-Read of the Week: I was feeling a bit down yesterday when I stumbled upon this post on Kate of Ghost Parties blog. I'll let the post do the talking but basically if you're feeling a bit down this will cheer you up or at least inspire you to make positive life changes.
The Week in Blog Posts: The Spring Beauty Edit, Celine Rita Summer 13/14, Skincare Staples: An Update.
Added to the Wishlist: Origins Make A Difference Plus Toner. This hasn't been released here yet but after reading Kate's review I will definitely be keeping an eye out for it once it lands in stores. Origins have really been a brand that's impressed me this year in terms of skincare. Have you tried any of their toners? Let me know your thoughts.

The Week #71
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *The Melbourne prepping has begun. *Celine Rita's stunning new Summer collection, inspired by Princess Diana. *Spring nails by Lisa at Leah Light Nails and Beauty. *Cereal heaven at Martha's Backyard. *Red lip bonanza. *Saturday mornings are blissful, always.
Must-Watch of the Week: I hope you're sitting comfortably because there's a few videos you must watch: #1-Amelia recently returned from a trip around the States. The good news here is that she made a vlog of her adventures around the country. I have been to New York City before but nowhere else in America so I really enjoyed watching this. Now I want to go to California and Los Angeles really badly! They look beautiful. Check that out here.
#2-As some of you may know, Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie and Rookie fame was in Australia last month. She was there to talk about her world and touches on topics like fangirling, depression and being creative. Tavi's blog was one of the very first ones I ever read and I've been inspired by her since then. If you want to feel inspired then you should go watch her talk at the Melbourne Writer's festival here. You can download the talk as an audio or video clip, so you can listen/watch it whenever you please.

The Week #70
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Pretty blossoms on a sunny Spring day. *A change of season calls for a new pinboard. *The current eye product rotation. *The fruity, fresh and floral Perfume Roster. *Weekend's off are the best. *Nouvelle Daily is a rather rad blog.
Must-Watch of the Week: I'm a fan of flawless makeup. The whole 'no makeup, makeup' look that actually takes a lot of time to get right? I'm all over that. It seems that Alix is also a fan of this minimalistic approach to beauty. She shared this video of a Drew Barrymore inspired look on her channel this week and I love it. If you've visited my Facebook page recently you'd know I am obsessed with glossy red lips at the moment. More on that below..
Product of the Week: After seeing some of the stunning looks Mac have been creating at Fashion Week the standout lip at Zambesi caught my eye. I recreated it yesterday using; Mac Redd Pencil, Mac Scarlet Ibis Lipstick (limited edition) and Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Riviera. For the glossy finish I just used a little bit of a sheer pink Bobbi Brown lipgloss (also limited edition) but you can use whichever gloss you fancy.
Must-Read of the Week: Most of my reading this week has been of the local Fashion Week coverage. As I write this Day 3's shows haven't even started but my favourite collection so far has got to be the one presented by Twenty Seven Names. The collection was inspired by Surrealist Rene Magritte, hence the bowler hats. Each of the looks are classic, elegant and definitely have wearability factor. Check out Katherine's other nzfw posts as well. She does the best coverage of all the shows and backstage happenings.
Added to the Wishlist: Other than the satchel I take to and from Uni most days I don't really own any other handbags. That's not entirely true. I do have handbags but they're on the smaller, flimsier side and aren't ideal for long days. The Zara City bag seems to be the handbag of choice for the fashion and blogging sets alike. While it isn't the smallest of bags it is more practical and still manages to look chicer than the hobo style handbags that were trending not too long ago. I'm off to Melbourne in November and I'll definitely be heading to Zara to have a look at their bag selection. Check it out here.
*Have an amazing weekend everybody. I am next level tired so I don't have any major plans other than celebrating the fact that it's the holidays! xo

The Week #69
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Visual diary-ing it up during some downtime this week. *What was in my satchel on Wednesday-Cupcakes and Cashmere is the perfect read for long train rides. *Face of the day on an evening out with one of my friends. *Only the best cereal ever-Lucky Charms! *New glasses=obligatory selfie session. Read the post here. *August's beauty favourites.
Must-Watch of the Week: There's been a few videos that I've enjoyed this week. Highlights include Anna's 'Get Ready With Me' and Alix's Keira Knightley inspired makeup. My favourite though was Estee of Essie Button's 'If All My Makeup Disappeared' video. A nightmarish thought for some, myself included but it was interesting to see what Estee would repurchase if this really did happen.
Product of the Week: A few products could have made their way here this week but you'll be seeing them in posts next month so I wanted to hold off on writing about them until then. One thing I have been reaching for all week is my Mac quad or trio if you will. I'm still trying to decide which eyeshadow to purchase and fill the final space with. It currently contains; Bronze, Amber Lights and Nylon which are all great neutral shades with fine shimmers running through them. Next time I go traveling I'll definitely be taking this along.
Must-Read of the Week: NY Mag published this article on what thirteen people wore to job interviews with Anna Wintour at Vogue. You'd be surprised at some of the acceptable outfits, particularly in the nineties. I was surprised that vintage seems to be a no-go. I guess it isn't current or fashion forward enough for Vogue..
Added to the Wishlist: Believe it or not nothing has made its way here this week! I might be going to Mecca sometime soon though so that may end up changing.
*Have an amazing weekend everyone. I'll be working on an assignment (last one until the break!), catching up on some reading and maybe even making some of Anna's mammoth After Dinner Mint cookies-Watch this space. xo
8/23/2013
The Week #68
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Friday afternoon downtime with the Cupcakes and Cashmere book *A spot of Karen Walker shopping. *Tavi gracing the cover of this month's Yen. This issue was such a mission to track down *The online and birthday shopping haul *T2 has arrived in Auckland. It's like entering tea heaven. Definitely try the nougat tea if you're in store, it's divine.
Must-Watch of the Week: Some of you probably already know this but watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians is my ultimate guilty pleasure. Tanya recently shared this tutorial on how to recreate Kendall Jenner's makeup look. Kendall's makeup always looks polished and gorgeous. The best part is it is relatively easy to achieve. If you're not a One Direction fan divert your eyes to the next section. Directioners if you haven't watched the YouTubers React video to their latest music video then you must watch. Tyler Oakley in particular had me in hysterics.
Product of the Week: My lips have been in a bit of a state lately so I've been abandoning lipstick for the most part and donning these two products instead. First up the Korres lip butter in Jasmine. It smells amazing, like Cookie Dough but it is also very nourishing and perfect to use if your lips are in need of some moisture. The Clarins instant light natural lip perfecter in #5 has been what I've layering over the top. A sheer baby pink colour without excessive sheen and tackiness.
Must-Read of the Week: I haven't done much non-academic reading this week but I have loved reading The Vogue Factor by Kirstie Clements. She offers up an insiders perspective to the workings of Vogue Australia and media+the fashion industry. I love it! If you're yet to read this you can pick it up here.
Added to the Wishlist: Diptyque's Philosykos has been on high rotation this month since receiving it for my birthday. I love it so much that the Figuier candle and room spray are now taking my fancy. Both are perfumed with a similar scent to the eau de toilette which smells divine. I'm adding these to the Christmas wish list as we speak..
*I hope you all have fabulous weekends! I'm catching up with a friend tomorrow and working on assignments. The countdown is on until mid-semester break! x
8/15/2013
The Week #67
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Wisdom from Anna Wintour, I went Mac shopping! More about that on Monday.. *This gorgeous birthday card from Maria arrived in the post *Tuesday's beauty, fragrance & jewelry bits *My scene yesterday *The funsized beauty bumf.
Must-Watch of the Week: This week seems to have been all about the hauls in Vlogville and being the nosy 'what did you buy' type, naturally I am okay with that. Shannon of Shaaanxo vlogged her haul(s) of Mac and Sephora products. There was lots of audible gasping and wishlist comparing happening during the viewing of this video. This is also a great one to watch if you're from New Zealand as Shannon talks about two shipping services she used which basically mean we can buy Mac and other beauty products for less. Beauty addicts: you must watch this!
Product of the Week: I have naturally thick, sometimes frizzy hair which tends to have a mind of its own, well not any more. I've been using the Clairol Anti-Frizz Serum* and am really noticing a difference to my hair. You can apply this to wet or dry hair and it makes your hair sit flatter. It almost looks as if my hair has been straightened on non-GHD days, not that I have particularly curly hair. As it's a serum it doesn't leave your hair crispy like some finishing sprays can do. I'm adding this to the repurchase list as we speak..
Must-Read of the Week: Earlier in the week I finished a book about Isabella Blow and her fabulous life in the fashion industry. This is the woman who introduced the world to Alexander McQueen, Sophie Dahl and Philip Treacy to name a few. Rather than gush about why Isabella was awesome I'll let this BuzzFeed article do the rest of the talking.
Added to the Wishlist: After watching Shannon's video a pen and paper were grabbed to start making a Sephora wishlist. Top of that list is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. These powders are for those of you who want something that will set your makeup without making your complexion look chalky or your base cakey. They basically help achieve a 'your skin, but better' finish and with my Mac powder on its last legs this would be an ideal replacement.

The Week #66
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *The birthday beauty haul, *Having my makeup done at Mecca with Nars and Hourglass products aplenty *Sharing the glossy love *My current go-to eye products *A David Downton illustrated card that I received for my birthday *Surprise cupcakes for a family lunch-chocolate and raspberry..so good! *Watching The Bling Ring at the Civic Theatre with Britney *My stunning birthday cake from Bluebells Cakery. It was almost too good to cut *Watching Alix's latest video and reading up on all things Diptyque *Obligatory selfie after having my makeup done *New to the library *My birthday nails as done by Leah Light in her gorgeous new salon.
8/01/2013
The Week #65
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *ASOS beauty bargains arriving in the post *Miss Selfridge arrived in Auckland at Smith & Caughey's. I'll take one of everything please *My day off, the only silver lining of being sick during birthday week *July's beauty favourites *'Thank goodness it's Friday' Macarons *Alexa as muse.
Must-Watch of the Week: I love watching Sam and Nic's videos. A lot of the beauty gurus on YouTube aren't all necessarily trained artists but these two are and they certainly know their stuff. This video had Nic doing half her face of makeup to show what a difference certain products can place and also where particular things should go on the face. This is a really effective way of showing what particular products are used for and what effect they have in a makeup look. Definitely go have a watch of it.
Product of the Week: I do love my Rimmel waterproof eyeliners but was beginning to miss wearing black eyeliner just a little bit. I rediscovered my Chanel 'La Ligne de Chanel duo this week. I picked this up at Sephora in Paris and I don't think this can be purchased outside of Europe sadly. Anyway this duo has one matte black and one glittery black shade which I usually mix together and then apply with a #266 brush. It looks really natural, you can't create harsh lines (here's looking at you liquid liner) and it subtly adds a bit of definition to the lashline.
Must-Read of the Week: Kirsten of High Tea Dragons blogged a recipe for Lemon & Paeroa (L&P) cupcakes this week. If you're not from New Zealand, L&P is a local soft drink which happens to taste delicious. This recipe incorporates the new L&P chocolate so I'll definitely be making these sometime soon. Check it out here. Maria of Avenue M shared her favourite Instagram apps and tips+tricks here. These are all apps I use and love too. Definitely be sure to have a look at her pretty pictures on her blog and Instagram.
Added to the Wishlist: Following the Nars account on Instagram is both a good and bad thing for my wallet. A few days ago they posted a picture of an upcoming eyeshadow palette called the 'Fairy Kiss' palette. It's similar to the 'And God Created The Woman' palette but the shades aren't as shimmery. It's definitely very pretty though.
I hope you all have fabulous weekends! I'm at Uni tomorrow & then doing last minute prep before my birthday party on the weekend.
7/26/2013
The Week #64
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *A quick-stop at Mecca last Friday. Items were added to the lust list.. *Cupcakes at my friend's 21st-delish! *The fairy-fied face of the day *Party time=glitter time *The bold lip *New semester, new stationery *A gorgeous fifties dress at the California Design exhibit currently on at the Auckland Art Gallery *Hourglass pretties *Kiwis take note; the new L&P Slabs by Whittakers are pretty darn good *X Factor finale-viewing, I'm going to miss this.
Must-Watch of the Week: I don't have any particular videos this week that stood out but I am loving Zoe's channel at the moment. Her videos are always so positive and uplifting. Zoe always shares the best of all things fashion and beauty so her channel is well worth subscribing to.
Product of the Week: It's pure coincidence that another Rimmel product has made its way into this category again this week. Their Stay Matte powder always comes with me when I'm out. It's great for on the go touch-ups. This powder is quite finely milled so it doesn't go cakey on top of foundation and powder. The transparent powder is my favourite. Pick it up here.
Must-Read of the Week: Those of us in New Zealand who watched X Factor, particularly the ladies often were captivated by the makeup looks, particularly modeled on Melanie Blatt. I'm not going to lie, I tweeted my beauty questions about looks to Kath Gould, the head makeup artist on the show a couple of times. Anyway, Leonie of The Style Insider found out how to get one of Mel's looks recently. Be sure to have a nosy if you were regularly admiring her makeup.
Added to the Wishlist: My jewellery collection definitely needs a bit of a cull given I mainly rotate the same pieces and neglect the rest. Regardless, there is always room for another silver ring and this flower ring by Karen Walker is so gorgeous. The perfect special occcasion gift or maybe even a treat for yourself, just because..
I hope you all have fabulous weekends! I've got some last-minute things to work on for my birthday party next weekend, Uni work to catch up on and of course blogging! xo

The Week #63
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Cleaning day *It's a brow thing *I have some brand new shoes. They're so pretty and sparkly *Cat pretending to be the big bad wolf *The DVD to-watch list before Semester 2 starts *My brother's birthday cake, made by moi *Journalling and thinking about happiness, gratitude and Audrey Hepburn *My 'if I was a rich girl' wishlist *On the go essentials *My new favourite thing, this journal from Kikki K's new range.
Must-Watch of the Week: I really loved this 60's makeup tutorial that Sam of Pixi Woo vlogged this week. I know it probably looks easier than it is to achieve but I really love this makeup look. Flawless matte skin, smoky and sultry eyes. Love.
Product of the Week: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara*, in stores August. I like to alternate my mascaras so it's very rare for me to wear one all week. That's exactly what's been happening with Lash Accelerator though. This mascara lengthens and curls my lashes really nicely. You can really layer this mascara on without looking like you've got spidery lashes. I love it. It's very similar to Chanel Inimitable which I used to use a few years ago so if you like that one then you'll like this.
Must-Read of the Week: Maria blogged an outfit post this week featuring the prettiest statement necklace. She also shared her thoughts about happiness and it more or less echoes exactly what I feel about happiness right now. This time last year was quite a challenging time for me and as trite as it may sound I feel like a completely different person, in a good way.
Added to the Wishlist: When I was in Newmarket earlier this week I paid a quick visit to Mecca and went straight to their Diptyque corner. Top of my lust list is their Figuier candle. It's similar to their Philosykos scent and its fragrance fills the room long after it has finished burning. This one doesn't come cheaply but we all deserve a little luxury every now and then..
Have a fabulous weekend everyone! I'm off shopping+chilling with Britney today and making the most of my last moments of freedom before I go back to classes on Monday.

The Week #62
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *The top five lipstick selection *A night in the city *Face of the day; The X Factor edition *Pinning pictures of Alexa Chung is completely justifiable. More on that later.. *Sunshine last weekend *I bought my first piece of Karen Walker clothing last week *We're in! At X Factor HQ *My desk on Tuesday *The best mail of the week *In my happy place at Mac *Flowers for me *The best of British beauty blogging.
Must-Watch of the Week: Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup has been running a series on her blog this week of sensible beauty packing for holidays, festivals and the last minute city trips. I don't know about you guys but I always overpack beauty-wise and find myself not wanting to use as much product as I usually do. Anna's videos break down everything you need and she's even provided a handy PDF checklist to download to keep you on track. I do love a good list, and organisation. Watch them next time you're needing to be organised.
Product of the Week: This week I've been loving lipstick in general, in particular Patisserie by Mac and also Lady Danger. I seem to enjoy wearing it more in Winter and as cheesy as it sounds I find it a bit of a confidence booster too. Both those shades are so gorgeous and the formulas are pretty spot on as well (see yesterday's post).
Must-Read of the Week: I really enjoy reading people's memoirs or autobiographies, particularly of people who have been involved in the fashion industry. At the moment I'm reading Blow by Blow which is an autobiography about the late Isabella Blow. She introduced the world to the likes of Philip Treacy and Alexander McQueen, she worked with Anna Wintour at British Vogue and was quite the eccentric woman. I'm really enjoying this book so far and would highly recommend it if you're into fashion biographies.
Added to the Wishlist: M and I visited the Mac Pro store on Monday. I behaved and left with nothing, she escaped with two lipsticks. Tsk, tsk. Anyway, after a lot of swatching and falling in love with far two many things, their pigment in Tan was added to the wishlist. Pigments can be worn a number of the ways but I think they look best layered over eyeshadows. This colour is so sparkly and gorgeous. I love it!

The 50 Random Facts About Me Tag
This tag has been floating around YouTube and various blogs a lot recently and I thought it might be fun to do. I'm one of those people who can never think of something to tell people about themselves in icebreaker situations so at least now I have a list of fifty things on hand! Hopefully you'll learn something new too. If you're a blogger or YouTuber reading this then I tag you to do this. It's a lot of fun thinking of things. On with the revelations..
1. I love glitter! I always have. I'm not sure when this started exactly but I do remember having several pairs of sparkly jelly shoes when I was younger so maybe that's where it stemmed from. I am always drawn to sparkly clothes, makeup, accessories. Probably the only glitter item I don't particularly like are sparkly cards, especially the ones which always shed glitter!
2. I've been wearing glasses since I was three years old. I wear contact lenses nowadays but if I'm just around the house I wear glasses.
3. One time I nearly met Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Nearly
4. My favourite colour is mint green. Not a bright mint, more a pastel, duck-egg blue shade. It isn't a colour I'd necessarily wear in outfits but I like it for accessories, nail colours, stationery etc.
5. I am terrified of rats and mice, this fear has a name, musophobia as Google just told me. This probably started when a family friend's son tormented me with their pet rat. A few years ago we had a problem with mice in our house and I packed a bag and moved out for a week. That's how much I don't like them.

6. I love statement rings and necklaces. Obviously I can't afford fine jewellery so I try to find ones that look almost real. Anything too plastic and shiny looking doesn't appeal to me.
7. I have never understood the appeal of fishnet stockings and mesh tops. This will always remain a mystery to me as I personally think both are hideous.
8. My first pet was a cat called Thomas. She was a girl but I insisted she be called Thomas because I liked watching Thomas The Tank Engine at that time.
9. One of my fondest childhood memories are our trips away to beaches like Papamoa and Whangamata with my cousins and their family. We never got to see them very often so it was always a treat.
10. Sometimes I manage to trip over when there is nothing around for me to lose my footing. Embarrassing for me, amusing for passersby.

The Week #61
The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *The best organic icecream ever, OOB Mint Chocolate chip *Starting Wednesday right with the latest Frankie magazine and a berry tea *A blast from the past, my very first issue of Teen Vogue *Behind the scenes chaos on this post *Tuesday's fotd *I love this sparkly clutch from Colette.
Must-Watch of the Week: Daily Mix have been running a series over on their channel all week called Beauty Bootcamp to pick a new beauty star to make videos for their channels. The contestants are all really good and the judges include Tanya Burr, Zoe of Zoella, Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo and more. It's really fun to watch..I'm quite sad it's only one week! Definitely go watch the videos if you haven't already.
Product of the Week: Mac matte lipstick in Lady Danger. This cherry red is so vibrant and incredibly long lasting. Seriously, it lasted on my lips through dinner on Tuesday and I didn't need to reapply it. Unlike other mattes it applies quite creamy and if you're after a new red lipstick I'd recommend having a look at this one.
Must-Read of the Week: I haven't done much reading this week but one website I keep going back to is online magazine Nouvelle Daily. Their beauty section has been well thumbed this week. I really enjoyed the Beauty on a Budget post in a particular. Love that Topshop lipstick! If you love fashion, beauty and lifestyle then definitely check out this blog.
Added to the Wishlist: My mini sized Tocca candle has nearly bit the dust so I've got my eye on the full sized version from Mecca. I love this scent and it ends up perfuming my house for most of the day after it's finished burning. Sometimes I just get it out of its box so the scent can fill the room. Another product that's on the wishlist at the moment is Nars creamy concealer in Vanilla which is getting a lot of online love at the moment. It also seems to be the shade that seems to sell out everywhere, including here in New Zealand. Hopefully they'll be back in stock by the time my current one runs out.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone! I've been doing a bit of writing over on my nzgirl account recently and have some more posts coming up. Like them if they're the kind of posts you like to see. I have also been featured in Popbasic's style guide for their Salut collection. Definitely go have a look at that collection because it is fab. That's also on my wishlist actually..

Must-Watch of the Week: I do love a good smokey eye in Winter, not necessarily the heavy version of it. This bronzed smokey eye with just a hint of black that Amelia vlogged is perfect. It's not too difficult to recreate and I like that this is quite shimmery rather than matte. This'd be perfect if you were wanting to create a The Great Gatsby inspired look but more on that next week..
Product of the Week: In truth I haven't been veering too far from my faithful products this week but one I have been reaching for is the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick in Pink in Confidence. A creamy, 'your lips but better' offering that doesn't dry out the lips, smells divine and is super moisturising.
Must-Read of the Week: The Coveteur is one of my favourite websites to browse. They visit some of fashion's finest homes and then photograph their posssessions+spaces as well as interview them. This week they published part two of an interview with Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere. Emily has some gorgeous clothes and treasures not to mention her space is gorgeous. Have a read of it here.
Added to the Wishlist: There have been no beauty additions to the list this week, other than what I blogged on Wednesday. I have got my eyes on Alexa Chung's upcoming book out in September though. A tome that looks at Alexa's musings, inspirations, and iconic style. I'm adding this to my cart as we speak.

Must-Watch of the Week: This video was uploaded by Louise a couple of weeks ago but it's one I've found myself going back to watch again. It is basically Louise's everyday makeup routine or How To Look Average as she puts it. As we all know good makeup takes a lot of time and sometimes you just don't have that. This look simply proves that you can look good and put a simple makeup look together in fifteen-ish minutes or less, which is roughly how long I take if I am rushing.
Product of the Week: There's been a few new products I've been trying this week but some I'm just not sure about yet so this week's product combination outdoes all the other contenders. Firstly Nars Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base is the best primer if you want your eyeshadow to last a lot longer. Eyeshadows usually crease super fast on my lids but when I'm wearing this they either don't crease at all or it'll be a lot longer before they do crease. Mac All That Glitters eyeshadow has been on high rotation this week. Whether it's worn by itself or over other shades it looks gorgeous.
Must-Read of the Week: Fact: Emma Watson is amazing. Tavi Gevinson is also amazing. So when these two get together and have a little chat about acting, keeping journals, inspiration and Joni Mitchell I knew it was going to be good. Have a read here if you're curious.
Added to the Wishlist: Surprisingly there have been no real beauty lustings this week. That will probably change as soon as I've managed to sit down and properly read through Mecca's 2013 Beauty Election Results catalogue. After reading the above interview with Emma I got inspired to take up visual journaling again so I am on the lookout for a blank Moleskine notebook to document everything and start making more visual mood-boards again.

The Week #55
Must-Watch of the Week: After a scroll through many a beauty blog I stumbled upon Essie Button, a Canadian blogger+vlogger living in London. Her Drugstore Makeup Starter Kit is fantastic if you're wanting to update your makeup bag with some affordable beauty bits. Even if you're just streamlining your makeup collection or wanting to start a collection this is worth a watch. She mentions a few of my drugstore favourites like the Real Techniques brushes and some other cult classics.
Product of the Week: This week I used a sample of Dermalogica Skin Refining Masque and in the thirty or so minutes it was on my face it definitely worked some magic. The clay mask deep-cleanses and it is great for problematic skin. I had some rather angry spots on my chin and they definitely weren't as red or sore after I took this off. Two days later and they are virtually gone. This mask also helps with shine-control as well but you'd need to use this a few times to see results with that. The down side with this though is that it'll require some penny saving, or canned meals for a month maybe..
Must-Read of the Week: Lauren's outfit post and musings on what she sees on her face. This post is pretty self explanatory so just click the link to read it. It is really cleverly written not to mention I love this outfit accompanying this post. Lauren, you are one talented girl x.
Added to the Wishlist: The last few days have been very Benefit-centred given their launch in New Zealand yesterday. On Wednesday night I got to have a play with a lot of their products and their now well-thumbed catalogue has a few pages marked with wishlist annotations. One product I am eager to get my hands on though is Posietint, a pink-tinted lip and cheek stain. This has been on my hand a good six hours since I swatched it and it has barely faded. It is long lasting, beautiful stuff. Get. In. My. Life.

7 Beauty Sins
The 7 Beauty Sins tag is one that has been floating around YouTube for a while now and I thought it'd be a fun one to answer, mainly because it got me thinking about beauty products a little differently to how I usually do. I always find these videos/posts interesting because everyone has such different answers, depending on what part of the world you're in.
So without further ado, here are my 7 Beauty Sins..
Greed
What is your most expensive/inexpensive beauty product? My most expensive product is probably the Nars bronzer in Laguna. The price you pay for the amount of product you get is worthwhile, this barely has a dent in it and I use it more or less every day. This colour is also a fantastic, natural bronze. It's very hard to go overboard with this bronzer! My most inexpensive product would be the Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms. I think they're under $5 and are great to have around when your lips are feeling a bit dry.
