New Zealand Fashion Festival and what it taught me-Part 2.

Wednesday night of the festival saw a tribe of black clad fashionistas arriving at Shed 10 ready to learn from the makeup maestros that are MAC Cosmetics. The technique seminar was titled 'On Trend' and explored some of the hottest runway looks which could then be practiced later at home.

There's my friend and I in the front row! Thanks Dani for this photo.

MAC Artists Ocea and Amy showed us four of the key looks from Fashion Week's internationally and how they can then be replicated by us at home Pictured are: Ath-Elite, Nouv-Eau and Neo-N.

Ath-Elite was all about sporty fresh skin, a wet effect look and lots of moisture. Studio Sculpt foundation was the key product here for achieving the spa fresh skin as well as the Blacktrack Fluidline on the eyes to add structure and dimension to the face.

Nouv-Eau was my favourite because it featured two of my favourite things; lots of sparkle and bright colour. Lips and cheeks are stained with fruity hues like strawberry and apricot, but the focus here is really on the eyes.

Neo-N is graffiti inspired with the glamour and simplicity of a beautifully canvassed face. If you prefer the focus to be on your eyes then apply eyeshadows like Swimming or Electric Eel which are colour intensive. For the lips, bright colours like Lady Danger or Girl About Town are what you're after if you like bold dramatic lip colour.

Aside from the trends everyone in the audience received a free goodie bag containing a $50 voucher, Opulash Mascara and either a Lipstick or Lipgloss oh, and some new tips and tricks for applying makeup!

Both girls swore by the Prep+Prime highlighter pen which brightens skin and is great for hiding tired eyes. Fix Plus Spray is another popular  one before applying products as well as at the end to hold them in place.

MAC often hold Technique workshops in their store so if you ever get the opportunity to attend one you should take advantage of it. Or else definitely attend their seminars at the NZ Fashion Festival next year as they're always incredibly popular!
