The Week #57

The Week in Instagrams @nanawintour: *Inspirational sentiments in the stationery mecca that is Kikki K *A very Gatsby inspired outfit and face yesterday *Tuesday's pink F.O.T.D-I've gone back to Mac this week *Blog lovin' *Kiwi Yo goodness-Their birthday cake flavour is divine *Visual diary acquired, let the journalling begin *The creamy edit of June's Beauty Bag *Pink goes good with green *Morning reads on a day off *Asking the all important questions about Melanie Blatt's X Factor makeup look on Sunday night. In case you can't read it she was wearing Mac Lady Danger lipstick. Also fangirl moment: Melanie from All Saints guys? Hopefully you 90's kids remember them.

Must-Watch of the Week: Alix of I Covet Thee vlogged the most gorgeous Spring Edit of beauty products. I know it isn't Spring in the Southern Hemisphere but I think it's fun to break the seasonal makeup rules, particularly when it comes to nail colour and eyeshadows. Keep a pen and paper handy to jot down her recommendations, there are some gems in there.

Product of the Week: I couldn't decide between products this week so again there are two that just stood out. I've been time pressed this week and the Mac Paint Pots in Eclair and Let's Skate have been taking care of all eyeshadow needs. One quick swipe across the lid and a little bit of blending has me sorted. With a primer underneath these last all day without creasing. Sold. I've been using Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask and Dermalogica Bedtime for Breakouts this week on my blemishes and it seems to work really well. The combination of hyaluronic and salicylic acids seems to be the perfect match.

Must-Read of the Week: Amelia's blog is one of my favourites at the moment, she really knows her stuff when it comes to all things beauty. She has been doing a series of Product Prescriptions where she answers common beauty, skincare and body product problems. She then recommends products for particular needs like making your makeup last longer. There are some really useful product recommendations and each of these posts are well worth a look. The most recent one was on makeup and was easily my favourite of the trio.

Added to the Wishlist: I blame Anna for this as well as the fact I haven't been to a Mac store properly in a long time. On the Mac Lust List are Lady Danger lipstick*, one of their most iconic shades, Coffee eye pencil and Harmony blush, said to be the shade for contouring up a storm.

*Update: Since writing this post I have in fact bought Lady Danger lipstick. First impressions; I love this colour and for a matte lipstick it doesn't feel too drying. So far, so good.
