The Online & Birthday Shopping Haul

Recently I've done a bit of shopping; beauty, fashion and even reading supplies were all taken care of. Whenever I do a 'haul' I usually make a list of things I've purchased so I can write about them. This shopping definitely did not all happen at once! It was mainly done over the last couple of months. So what could I not leave the shops without recently? Keep reading..

Cupcakes and Cashmere by Emily Schuman, purchased from The Book Depository I purchased this online because you can't get this book here and also because it was a lot cheaper. I'm not sure why books are so expensive in New Zealand so I usually always buy them online. The Book Depository offer free worldwide shipping as well which is another bonus. Anyway, I reviewed this book here a few months ago and I remember enjoying it a lot and wanted to add it to my collection. If you're already a fan of Emily's fabulous blog then you need to track this down and have a read of it.

Karen Walker Flower Ring, available here This was purchased using a gift voucher I received for my birthday and I love it. I have a few of Karen Walker's rings and wear them religiously. They're just such simple, beautiful pieces and because they're silver they can be worn with everything. Next on my list is the cat ring and this flower ring.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Stellar, purchased from ASOS There was a big beauty sale on ASOS when I picked this up a few weeks ago. I think it ended up being about 5 or 6 dollars. After being sent Apocaliptic a couple of months ago I wanted to try Stellar next but it was always out of stock at the stores I went to. It is such a stunning colour, it reminds me a bit of Mac's Impassioned lipstick but more pink. These lip lacquers are quite glossy so they do wear off as the day goes on. They do leave a gorgeous stain behind though and don't feel drying on the lips.

Mac Eyeshadows in Bronze and Nylon, purchased from the Mac Pro Store The Mac eyeshadows in pan form are a little bit cheaper than the ones in containers so I grabbed these with a birthday voucher I had a couple of weeks back. I wanted some colours to fill my quad (one space left!) and these are popular colours so I really wanted to try them. I love bronze eyeshadows and this one looks gorgeous worn lightly or layered to look more dramatic. Nylon is the perfect inner corner highlight shade as well. It really makes the eyes pop!

The Vogue Factor by Kirstie Clements, purchased from The Book Depository Again, I purchased this online because this book was never released in New Zealand. Kirstie was at Vogue Australia for 25 years and went on to become the editor of the magazine for 13 years. This book charts her career at Vogue and includes many an insiders tale of the magazine and fashion worlds colliding. I've only just started reading this book but am loving it so far. Expect a full review soon.

Vogue Australia, August 2013 I don't buy Vogue Australia very often, when it changed editors I felt like the magazine was a bit of a mess but nearly a year on it seems to have improved a lot. The main reason I purchased this issue was because I wanted to read the cover story with Sofia Coppola but also because Tavi Gevinson was featured. There's some stunning editorials in this issue as well.

The Bling Ring by Nancy Jo Sales, purchased from Whitcoulls Another birthday purchase, inspired by watching the film of the same name at the Film Festival a couple of weeks ago. I still remember when this happened and thought it'd be interesting to read up on the real story.

Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polish in Jazz Funk* So technically I didn't buy this but I had to share it anyway. I've been waiting for these polishes to be released in New Zealand and that day is almost here! They're in store September but I was lucky enough to be sent this shade in the meantime. These polishes have a glossy finish and look like a gel polish once applied. The wide brush makes this easy to apply as well, one stroke more or less coats the nail. I'm definitely going to pick up some more of these Moss-approved shades when they're available. You can check them out here in the meantime.

Katy Perry 'Sweetie Pie' lashes, purchased from ASOS Fact: I have a fear of false eyelashes, mainly worrying that I'll somehow ruin my own lashes in the process. After watching many a YouTube tutorial where falsies are so expertly applied and look gorgeous I decided to get over my fear. These Katy Perry lashes are gorgeous. I love that they're not too ridiculously full or lengthy. Hopefully they're easy to apply too!

Bite High Pigment Matte Pencil in Zinfandel* Lip crayons seem to be making a big comeback lately thanks to the Clinique Chubby sticks. This shade is a bright, electric coral. Again like the Rimmel lip lacquers these are quite glossy. They have a satin finish and texture, don't feel drying on the lips and are super easy to apply. They last pretty well on the lips but you might have to touch up during the day. I love this colour as well! It's such a flattering red.
